Wie geht die Welt mit mir um? Wie gehe ich mit der Welt um? „Stay out of Politics“ oder Flyer verteilen am Viktor-Adler-Markt in Favoriten bei der Schlusskundgebung der FPÖ? Berlin | DE; Langwies, Wien | AT; Paris | FR; Poznan | PL · 1977–2022 (© PP · # 3703 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Der von mir an sich hoch geschätzte Filmregisseur Wim Wenders hat als Jurypräsident der Berlinale 2026 mit seinem (in einem größeren Kontext gesprochenen) Statement „We Have to Stay Out of Politics – Filmmakers ‘Have to Do the Work of People, Not the Work of Politicians’“ mancherseits einen Sturm der Entrüstung ausgelöst. Guter Anlass zur Selbstbefragung – potentiell: Selbstanklage, Flagellation. Wie hält’st Du’s – ähh – wie halte ich’s mit der Politik, mit politischem Engagement? „Hochzeitswelt Oberösterreich“ oder „Unfuck the World“? Dokumentarfilme über Künstler*innen machen oder lieber eine Undercover-Doku über Kickl, die FPÖ und die John-Otti-Band?

Wie gehe ich mit der Welt um mich um, welche Schlüsse ziehe ich aus Nachrichten? Was erfahre ich wie über die Welt, in der ich lebe – im Großen und im Kleinen? Wie erlebe ich selbst die Veränderungen in Wien, was machen die mit mir? Dass die FPÖ und Kickl und die John-Otti-Band bereits IN der Türe stehen – das weiß ich erstaunlicherweise auch ohne FB, ohne tägliche Lektüre des Guardian und der NZZ.

Wie reagiere ich auf Mails von Freunden wie: „Im Anhang ein Artikel aus der NZZ, der es wert ist gelesen zu werden und … dann mal tief durchzuatmen….“ Lese ich den Artikel sofort und bereite mich auf einen Schlag in die Magengrube vor der mir die Luft nimmt?

Eine Freundin schickt mir einen link zu einem Bericht über einen Film „Exposing the Far Right“ und schreibt dazu: Gestern wurde das World Forum mit diesem Film eröffnet – dazu das „Kotz-Icon“. heftig . . vielleicht kann man ihn ja irgendwo außer im UK sehen. LG aus Berlin“ Soll ich mich jetzt darum bemühen, den Film irgendwo aufzutreiben, damit ich auch heftig kotzen muss? Muss noch drüber nachdenken.

Berlin | DE; Langwies, Vienna | AT; Paris | FR; Poznan | PL · 1977–2022 (© PP · # 3703 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) The film director Wim Wenders, whom I generally hold in high esteem, triggered a storm of outrage in some quarters with his statement (spoken in a broader context) “We Have to Stay Out of Politics – Filmmakers ‘Have to Do the Work of People, Not the Work of Politicians’” as president of the jury at the 2026 Berlinale. A good opportunity for self-reflection – potentially: self-accusation, flagellation. How do you – err – how do I – deal with politics, with political engagement? “Wedding World Upper Austria” or “Unfuck the World”? Should I make documentaries about artists, or rather an undercover documentary about Kickl, the FPÖ, and the John Otti Band?

How do I interact with the world around me, what conclusions do I draw from the news? What do I learn about the world I live in—both on a large and small scale? How do I personally experience the changes in Vienna, and how do they affect me? That the FPÖ, Kickl, and the John Otti Band are already knocking on the door—surprisingly, I know that even without Facebook, without daily reading of the Guardian and the NZZ.

How do I react to emails from friends like: „Attached is an article from the NZZ that’s worth reading and… then take a deep breath…“ Do I read the article immediately and brace myself for a gut punch that will take my breath away?

A friend sent me a link to a report about a film called „Exposing the Far Right“ and wrote: „Yesterday, the World Forum opened with this film – and the ‚vomit icon‘ was there. Awful… maybe it’s available to watch somewhere other than the UK. Greetings from Berlin.“ Should I now try to track down the film so I can also vomit violently? I need to think about it.
