Zwillinge und Doppelgänger – Zu Peter Greenaways ”A Zed & Two Noughts”(„Ein Z und zwei Nullen – Zoo“) Berlin | DE; Ebensee, Langwies, Wien | AT; London | UK · 2003–2018 (© PP · Ewiges Archiv) Es gibt nur ganz wenige Aufnahmen von mir, die mir als Foto etwas bedeuten, weil sie besondere Momente notieren. Ich sehe mich ja keineswegs als Fotografen (insofern „konkurriere“ ich nicht mit Fotograf*innen jedweder Art), sondern als Sammler, der seine Fundstücke möglichst sorgfältig bewahrt und manche davon thematisch zusammenfügt in der Hoffnung, dass daraus eine neue „Persona“ entfliegt. In diesem Tableau konnte ich (endlich) einige davon miteinander bekannt machen: das Foto der beiden UPS-Lieferwägen (oben Mitte), die tail to tail stehen vor dem „BILLA-Ausbildungszentrum“, gehört ebenso dazu wie die Aufnahmen der beiden Männer im Gleichschritt mit den roten Kappen, denen ich in London für kurze Augenblicke begegnet bin auf dem Weg zur Photographers Gallery. Diese Fotos liebe ich sehr. Die einzigen „identical twins“ auf diesem Tableau sind die beiden jungen Männer in der 2. Bild-Reihe, die ich in der Tate Modern London gesehen und mit denen ich kurz gesprochen habe: Sie waren Teil einer Arbeit von Damien Hirst und saßen bzw. standen für die Dauer der Ausstellung vor den beiden dot paintingsabwechselnd mit anderen twins.

Der Film von Peter Greenaway „A Zed & Two Noughts“ („ZOO“) ist einer der Filme, die ich sicher nie vergessen werde, mit Zeitraffer-Animationen von verwesenden Objekten und Tieren, beginnend mit einem Apfel, über Fische, Alligator, ein Zebra usw. Das Zile der beiden Protagonisten – eines Zwillingspaares – ist, sich selbst bei der Verwesung im Zeitraffer zu filmen, was aber nicht gelingt, weil Schnecken den Aufnahmemechanismus der Kamera kurzschließen. Identical Twins and doppelgangers: Peter Greenaway’s “A Zed & Two Noughts” (For Tommy R.) Berlin | DE; Ebensee, Langwies, Vienna | AT; London | UK · 2003-2018 (© PP · Eternal Archive) There are only a few shots of me that mean something to me as a photo because they record special moments. I do not see myself as a photographer (in that respect I do not “compete” with any kind of photographer), but as a collector, who keeps his finds as carefully as possible and some of them thematically together in the hope that a new “persona” will fly away. In this panel I was (finally) able to get to know some of them: the photo of the two UPS vans (top center), the tail to tail standing in front of the “BILLA training center”, which belong to the same as the two men in lockstep the red caps that I met in London for brief moments on the way to the Photographers Gallery. I really love these two pictures. The only “identical twins” on this tableau are the two young men in the second series I saw in the Tate Modern London and with whom I spoke briefly: they were part of a work by Damien Hirst and sat or stood for the duration of the exhibition in front of the two dot paintings alternating with other twins.
Peter Greenaway’s film “A Zed & Two Noughts” (“ZOO”) is one of the films that I’m sure I’ll never forget, with time-lapse animations of decaying objects and animals, starting with an apple, about fish, alligator Zebra, etc. The Zile of the two protagonists – a pair of twins – is to film itself in the decay in fast motion, but this does not succeed because snails short the camera’s recording mechanism.
