Cadillac-Ranch in Berlin? Kreisverkehr statt Gemeindebau? Tableaux gegen die Angst? Berlin | DE · 2017 (© PP · # 3231 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Schon lange geplant, wollte ich heute früh endlich den sicher umfangreichen Block: „Kunst an Gemeindebauten“ beginnen. Ansätze dazu gibt es, insbesondere zu den Beschriftungen der Bauten – aber die intensivere Auseinandersetzung steht noch aus. Wie das eben beim Durchstreifen der Bildräume passiert, blieb ich bei einem Kreisverkehr in Berlin stecken, den ich 2017 gesehen und nach einer gewissen Schockstarre von allen Seiten dokumentiert hatte. Ich war nach Berlin gekommen, um eine Aufführung an der Berliner Schaubühne von „Ungeduld des Herzens“ zu sehen, in der mein Freund, der Schauspieler Hannes Flaschberger mitspielte. Inszenierung: Simon McBurney – großartiger Abend. An einem Morgen also frühe Stadtwanderung gemäß dem chinesischen Sprichwort: „Drei Mal früher aufgestanden, ist ein ganzer Tag gewonnen!“ Plötzlich dann eröffnet sich der Blick auf ein massives Konvolut aus bizarren Betonformen und eingegossenen schwarzen Autos. Von heimischen Kreisverkehr-Kunstwerken einiges gewöhnt (s. dazu www.ewigesarchiv.at) – aber das war dann doch starker Tobak. Natürlich ein wesentliches Thema, ein massiver, Beton gewordener, verdichteter Verweis auf eine Welt, die vollgestopft ist mit Autos. Ich habe bisher nicht recherchiert, von wem diese riesige Skulptur ist – Wolf Vostell?? Besonders schön fand ich, dass plötzlich auch ein LKW der Schaubühne Berlin in den Kreisverkehr einfuhr (re. oben). Gedanken natürlich an die Cadillac Ranch in Texas.

Den Block „Kunst an Gemeindebauten – Mosaike, Reliefe, Sgraffiti, Skulpturen ua.“ werde ich noch angehen, großes Ehrenwort an mich selber. Darauf wartet niemand.

Warum ich kontinuierlich diese Zusammenstellungen, diese „Tableaux“ mache, die tatsächlich niemand braucht, in Auftrag gibt, die im Orkus des Internets lautlos verschwinden? In einem der vielen Gespräche mit meinem longtime Reality-Coach Markus – wie oft über den Zustand der Welt – meinte ich: Vielleicht ist diese regelmäßige Tätigkeit eine Möglichkeit für mich, meine ab + zu aufsteigende Angst über die Veränderung meiner Umwelt einigermaßen zu neutralisieren. (Alle FB-Kontakte, die sich über den geplanten Terroranschlag auf die Taylor-Swift-Konzerte auch nur im Ansatz lustig machen oder dazu scheinbar heitere Beobachtungen posten, blockiere ich unverzüglich. Just sayin’.

Berlin | DE – 2017 (© PP – # 3231 – www.ewigesarchiv.at) Having planned this for a long time, I wanted to finally start what is sure to be an extensive block this morning: “Art on municipal buildings”. I’ve made a start, especially on the labelling of the buildings, but I’ve yet to tackle it in depth. As happens when roaming the pictorial spaces, I got stuck at a roundabout in Berlin that I saw in 2017 and, after a certain amount of shock, documented from all sides. I had come to Berlin to see a performance of “Ungeduld des Herzens” at the Berliner Schaubühne theatre, in which my friend, the actor Hannes Flaschberger, was playing. Directed by Simon McBurney – a great evening. So one morning, an early walk through the city according to the Chinese proverb: “Getting up three times early makes a whole day!” Suddenly, the view opens up onto a massive convolute of bizarre concrete moulds and cast-in black cars. I’m used to quite a lot from local roundabout artworks (see www.ewigesarchiv.at) – but this was quite something. Of course, an essential theme, a massive, condensed reference to a world that is crammed full of cars. I haven’t yet researched who this huge sculpture is by – Wolf Vostell? I particularly liked the fact that a Schaubühne Berlin lorry suddenly entered the roundabout (top right). Thoughts of course of the Cadillac Ranch in Texas.
I will still tackle the block “Art on municipal buildings – mosaics, reliefs, sgraffiti, sculptures, etc.”, a big word of honour to myself. Nobody is waiting for that.
Why do I keep making these compilations, these “tableaux” that nobody really needs, that nobody commissions, that disappear silently into the orcus of the Internet? In one of the many conversations with my long-time reality coach Markus – as is often the case about the state of the world – I said: Perhaps this regular activity is a way for me to neutralise, to some extent, the anxiety that arises from time to time about the changes in my environment. (I immediately block all FB contacts who even begin to make fun of the planned terrorist attack on the Taylor Swift concerts or post seemingly cheerful observations about it. Just sayin’.
