Die „Welt“ mit „anderen“ Augen sehen / Seeing the ”World” with ”other” Eyes. Berlin | DE; Wien | AT · 2009 – 2018. Das im Moment des Todes gesehene Bild „brennt“ sich auf der Netzhaut ein – so eine der diesbezüglichen Vorstellungen, die sich allerdings meines Wissens bislang nicht durch präzise Untersuchungen bzw. Obduktionen verifizieren ließ. Photographie, Kinematographie und die digitalen Derivate davon haben zumindest den Anspruch, die „Welt“ sich selbst abbilden zu lassen – die „Ergebnisse“ sind allenfalls Aufnahmen aus einer oder mehreren spezifischen Perspektiven, markant geprägt durch die verwendete Technologie. Keine (Überwachungs-)Kamera zeichnet umfassend und „offen“ auf – sie wurde mit bestimmter Absicht hergestellt und eingerichtet.

Mit dem hier gezeigten „View-Master“ bin ich aufgewachsen – die damaligen Scheiben mit den stereoskopischen, minimal unterschiedlichen, weil von zwei leicht versetzten Optiken aufgenommenen Dias (vgl. die beiden Bilder der „Preview-Reel“ oben mittig) habe ich nicht mehr. Der Eindruck „räumlichen“ Sehens beim Blick durch dem „Master“ ist nach wie vor erstaunlich.

Das große Foto links zeigt ein Detail eines Plakates von „C | O Berlin“, das mich angeregt hat, dieses Tableau zusammenzustellen. Bei C | O Berlin wird derzeit eine Irving-Penn-Ausstellung gezeigt.; das Foto unten mittig ist von Rainer Wölzl, der mich wieder an die großartige Sammlung kinematographischer Artefakte des im Vorjahr verstorbenen Filmemachers Werner Nekes erinnert hat.

The image seen at the moment of death “burns” on the retina – one of the ideas in this respect, which, however, has not been verified to the best of my knowledge through precise examinations or autopsies. Photographs, cinematography and the digital derivatives of these have at least the claim to let the “world” reflect itself – the “results” are at best photographs from one or more specific perspectives, marked by the technology used. No (surveillance) camera records comprehensively and “openly” – it was created and set up with a purpose.
I grew up with the “View-Master” shown here – the discs with the stereoscopic, minimally different slides, which were taken from two slightly offset optics (compare the two pictures of the “Preview-Reel” at the top center) , The impression of “spatial” seeing while looking through the “Master” is still amazing.
The large photo on the left shows a detail of a poster from “C | O Berlin “, which inspired me to compile this tableau. At C | O Berlin is currently showing an Irving Penn exhibit .; the photo below is by Rainer Wölzl, who reminded me again of the great collection of cinematographic artifacts of the filmmaker Werner Nekes, who died the previous year.
