Amsterdam | NL; Wien | AT · 2010–2018 (© PP · Ewiges Archiv) Der deutsche Künstler Timm Ulrichs, mittlerweile 80-jährig, hat mehrfach bekundet, er möchte die Welt bzw. sein Leben „besenrein“ verlassen. Allerdings haben sich bisher keine Museen und ähnlichen Institutionen gefunden, die bereit wären, sein vermutlich riesiges Konvolut, seine „Verlassenschaft“ vorab zu übernehmen – neben anderen Überlegungen ist der Aufwand für Übernahme, Lagerung, Archivierung, Restaurierung und Katalogisierung von Künstler*innen-Nachlässen enorm. In der Literaturszene höre ich immer wieder mal von „Vorlässen“, die Schriftsteller*innen Literaturhäusern, -Archiven noch zu Lebzeiten überlassen. Dann schätzen Literaturwissenschafter*innen uä. den potentiellen Wert der Manuskripte, Notiz- und Tagebücher, von Unveröffentlichem und mehr.
Der Gedanke, die Welt geordnet und ohne chaotische Rückstände zu verlassen, hat schon seinen Reiz . . .
„Das, was mich bedrückt, ist nicht mein Tod, sondern dass ich vor seinem Eintreten noch Ordnung schaffen muss. Ich habe noch so viel Zeugs, das kein Mensch außer mir in seiner Herkunft und Bedeutung ermessen kann; Manuskripte oder Briefe von Autoren, von denen die Erben nicht mal die Unterschrift entziffern könnten. Auch will ich nicht, dass meine arme Frau jahrelang meinen ganzen Müll sortieren muss. Das kann ich ihr nicht antun. Also hoffe ich, noch zehn Jahre durchzuhalten, um sie dem Aufräumen widmen zu können. Ich will mein Leben „besenrein“ verlassen.“

Timm Ulrichs (* 31. März 1940 in Berlin) ist ein deutscher Künstler und emeritierter Professor. . . Ulrichs arbeitet interdisziplinär. Er ist ein Vertreter von Neodadaismus, Body Art und Konzeptkunst. Ebenfalls beschäftigt sich Ulrichs mit Druckgrafik, dem Künstlerbuch und Performance-Kunst. Bekannt ist er darüber hinaus durch seine Beschäftigung mit der Sprache. Ulrichs setzt Tautologien, Paradoxien und Mehrdeutigkeiten in der Sprache – z. B.: „Am Anfang war das Wort am …“ – sowie verbale Begriffe künstlerisch, meist in Form von Plastiken oder Installationen, um. Kontinuierlich hat Ulrichs auch Kunst im öffentlichen Raum betrieben. Große, oft themen- und standortbezogene Plastiken von Ulrichs sind u. a. vor dem Magdeburger Hauptbahnhof (Erd-Achse), nahe der Münchner Allianz-Arena in Fröttmaning (Versunkenes Dorf), im Freilichtmuseum Middelheim in Antwerpen (Musterhäuser, Typ Bomarzo), in der Altstadt von Recklinghausen (Das Ganze und die Teile), in Bergkamen (Pyramide zum Mittelpunkt der Erde), in Mülheim/Ruhr-Styrum (Zwischen den Zeilen), in Sinsheim (Hausgeburt), vor der Galerie Nordhorn (Der Findling), in Essen etwa 150 m nordöstlich des Museum Folkwang (UMRAUM) und am Marktplatz Einbeck (von null bis unendlich) zu sehen.
Ab 1968 begann Ulrichs Installationen für eine Fotoserie unter dem Titel „Fotografieren verboten“, die er über mehrere Jahre fortführte. (wiki)

However, so far no museums and similar institutions have been found that would be willing to take over his probably huge bundle, his “bequest” in advance – among other considerations is the effort involved in taking over, storing, archiving, restoring and cataloging artist bequests enormously. In the literary scene, I keep hearing about “events” that writers leave to literature houses and archives while they are still alive. Then literary scholars appreciate the potential value of manuscripts, notebooks and diaries, unpublished and more.
The thought of leaving the world in an orderly manner and without chaotic residues has its charm. . .
“What is troubling me is not my death, but that I have to create order before it happens. I have so much stuff that no one but me can measure in its origin and meaning; Manuscripts or letters from authors, of which the heirs could not even decipher the signature. Nor do I want my poor wife to sort all my trash for years. I can’t do that to her. So I hope to hold out ten more years to dedicate it to cleaning up. I want to leave my life “swept clean”. “

Timm Ulrichs (born March 31, 1940 in Berlin) is a German artist and professor emeritus. . . Ulrichs works in an interdisciplinary manner. He is a representative of neodadaism, body art and concept art. Ulrichs also deals with print graphics, the artist’s book and performance art. He is also known for his preoccupation with language. Ulrichs sets tautologies, paradoxes and ambiguities in language – e.g. For example: “In the beginning the word was on …” – as well as verbal terms artistic, mostly in the form of sculptures or installations. Ulrichs also continued to practice art in public spaces. Large, often thematic and location-related sculptures by Ulrichs are a. in front of the Magdeburg main station (earth axis), near the Munich Allianz Arena in Fröttmaning (sunken village), in the Middelheim open-air museum in Antwerp (model houses, Bomarzo type), in the old town of Recklinghausen (the whole and the parts), in Bergkamen (Pyramid to the center of the earth), in Mülheim / Ruhr-Styrum (between the lines), in Sinsheim (birth), in front of the Nordhorn gallery (The Findling), in Essen about 150 m northeast of the Museum Folkwang (UMRAUM) and on the market square Einbeck (from zero to infinity).
