Jeanne d’Arc, Jean-Marie Le Pen, ich und meine 16 mm Bolex, ein Mädchen, ein Mann und ein Hund in einem Fenster, sowie Prinzessin Diana und ihr Freund Dodi al-Fayed: Eine überraschende Entdeckung. Paris | FR · 1. Mai 1990 (© PP · # 2620 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Ich war in der Bilddatenbank auf das Foto rechts unten gestoßen, von dem ich hier nur einen Ausschnitt zeige. Das Bild, der Scan eines Farbdias, zeigt wesentlich mehr, viel mehr vom Gebäude, links das Straßenschild „RUE ARSÈNE HOUSSAYE“, darunter ein Graffiti-Tag, das gesamte Stativ, auf dem die Filmkamera befestigt ist, deren Objektiv zum Haus gerichtet ist, am Boden steht die Kameratasche. Das Auto ist zur Gänze zu sehen, der untere Teil der Karrosserie ist dunkelblau lackiert, getrennt vom weißen Teil durch einen schmalen, roten Streifen. Rechts vom Fenster ein Graffiti FUCK THE POLICE, darunter ein weiteres „Tag“. Das Fenster des Hauses ist geöffnet, ein auf einem Polster sitzendes, blondes Mädchen streichelt einen Hund, wohl ein Spaniel, dahinter steht ein Mann mit Brille, in der Hand ein gefaltetes Blatt Papier haltend. Aus einem Impuls heraus wollte ich sehen, welche Fotos noch auf diesem Filmstreifen zu sehen sind – ein Diafilm hat 36 Aufnahmen – und stieß auf das Foto links unten, das ich in den mehr als 30 Jahren, die vergangen waren, seit ich die Fotos belichtet hatte, bisher nicht beachtet hatte: Vater und Tochter reflektieren mit einem Schminkspiegel Sonnenlicht auf ein Blatt Papier, während ein Umzug der rechtsextremen Front National vorbeizieht, den ich mit meiner 16 mm Bolex-Kamera filmte. Die Front National unter dem damaligen Vorsitzenden Jean-Marie Le Pen (re. ob.), veranstaltete am 1. Mai 1990 den Umzug HONNEUR A JEANNE (Ehrung für Jeanne) als FETE DU TRAVAIL (Fest der Arbeit). Die Front National hat Jeanne d’Arc als ihre „Säulenheilige“ erkoren – beim Umzug ritt eine Frau in entsprechender Kleidung mit (li. ob.) Ich hatte von einem befreundeten Journalisten ein Ansteckschild bekommen, das mich als Mitarbeiter der PRESSE auswies (der Anstecker liegt neben mir, während ich diesen Text schreibe). Diese Demonstration waren eine von vielen Demonstrationen, Umzügen und Protesten, die ich vor über 30 Jahren, im Frühsommer 1990 im Rahmen eines 6-monatigen Aufenthaltes in Paris fotografiert und gefilmt hatte, daraus ist der Film „Paris Paname“ entstanden (link s. u.)

Bei der Recherche zum damaligen Standpunkt der Aufnahme in der Rue Arsène-Houssaye fand ich heraus, dass in dieser Straße die Wohnung von Prinzession Dianas Freund Dodi al-Fayed war, zu der beide unterwegs waren, als sie am 31. August 1997 mit dem Auto tödlich verunglückten.

The picture, a scan of a color slide, shows much more, much more of the building, on the left the street sign “RUE ARSÈNE HOUSSAYE”, underneath a graffiti tag, the entire tripod on which the film camera is mounted, the lens of which is pointed towards the house, the camera bag is on the floor. The car can be seen in its entirety, the lower part of the body is painted dark blue, separated from the white part by a narrow red stripe. To the right of the window, graffiti FUCK THE POLICE, with another “tag” below it. The window of the house is open, a blond girl sitting on a cushion is stroking a dog, probably a spaniel, behind is a man with glasses, holding a folded piece of paper in his hand. On impulse, I wanted to see what other photos were on this strip of film – slide film has 36 exposures – and came across the photo below left that I had taken in the more than 30 years that had passed since I exposed the photos hadn’t noticed before: A father and daughter use a makeup mirror to reflect sunlight onto a piece of paper as a far-right Front National parade goes by, which I filmed with my 16mm Bolex camera. On May 1, 1990, the Front National under the then chairman Jean-Marie Le Pen (r. above) organized the procession HONNEUR A JEANNE (Honor for Jeanne) as FETE DU TRAVAIL (Festival of Work). The Front National chose Joan of Arc as their “pillar saint” – a woman dressed in appropriate clothing rode with them during the parade (top left). I had received a badge from a journalist friend that identified me as an employee of PRESSE (the badge lies next to me as I write this text). This demonstration was one of many demonstrations, parades and protests that I photographed and filmed more than 30 years ago, in the early summer of 1990, during a 6-month stay in Paris, from which the film “Paris Paname” was created (see link below).
When I researched the location of the recording on Rue Arsène-Houssaye, I found that this street was the home of Princess Diana’s friend Dodi al-Fayed, to whom they were both heading when they drove by car on August 31, 1997 fatally injured.
