Wim Wenders zum 80. Geburtstag am 14. August 2025: Alles Gute! wünscht ein gealterter Fanboy. Wien | AT · 1993–2019 (© PP · # 3552 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Es gibt einige Filme von Wim Wenders, die mich schon sehr lange „begleiten“ – darunter mein Lieblingsfilm „Im Lauf der Zeit“ – ein Road Movie in Schwarz/Weiß: Ein Mechaniker für Filmprojektoren (Rüdiger Vogler) und einer, der mit voller Fahrt mit seinem VW-Käfer in den Rhein gerast ist, fahren mit einem umgebauten Möbelwagen die (vormalige) BRD/DDR Grenze ab und machen Station in kleinen Orten in den jeweiligen kleinen Kinos. Ich denke, dass ich den Film, als er 1976 neu in die Kinos kam, zum ersten Mal im Admiral-Kino gesehen habe (damals noch kein Reprisen-Kino), seither borge ich ihn mir von Zeit zu Zeit auf DVD in der Hauptbibliothek aus und schaue ihn mir mit dem Audio-Kommentar des Regisseurs an. Ganz ganz wunderbar.

Das Cover der mittlerweile längst eingestellten Tageszeitung „Täglich Alles“ aus 1993 ist natürlich ein besonderes Juwel meiner Sammlung und mein virtuelles Geschenk an den Filmregisseur: Rechts oben im Bold Wim Wenders mit Nastassja Kinski! Der Text dazu: „Star-Regisseur Wim Wenders stellte bei den Gilmfestspielen in Cannes seinen neuen Film „In weiter Ferne so nah“ vor. Glücklich lächelte Hauptdarstellerin Nastassja Kinski an seiner Seite in die Kamera. Seit sie mit Musiker Quincy Jones liiert ist, geht es beruflich und privat wieder hinauf.“ Besser geht’s nicht! Die SW-Portraitfoto dieses Tableaus machte ich 2014 bei einer Pressekonferenz anlässlich der Premiere des Films „Kathedralen der Kultur“ am 10. Jänner 2019 im Metro Kino.

Ich fragte Wim Wenders damals nach der Restaurierung seiner Filme – seine Antwort stellte ich zu einem Video zusammen:

Happy 80th birthday to Wim Wenders on August 14, 2025: All the best! from an aging fanboy. Vienna | AT · 1993–2019 (© PP · # 3552 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) There are several Wim Wenders films that have stayed with me for a long time – among them my favorite, „Im Lauf der Zeit“ (In the Course of Time) – a black and white road movie: A film projector mechanic (Rüdiger Vogler) and someone who crashed his VW Beetle into the Rhine at full speed drive across the (former) FRG/GDR border in a converted moving van, stopping off at small cinemas in small towns. I think I first saw the film when it was released in 1976 at the Admiral Cinema (back then it wasn’t a Reprisen cinema). Since then, I’ve occasionally borrowed it on DVD from the main library and watched it with the director’s audio commentary. Absolutely wonderful.
The cover of the now long-defunct daily newspaper „Täglich Alles“ from 1993 is, of course, a special gem in my collection and my virtual gift to the film director: top right in the bold, Wim Wenders with Nastassja Kinski! The accompanying text: „Star director Wim Wenders presented his new film „In weit Ferne so nah“ at the Cannes Film Festival. Lead actress Nastassja Kinski smiled happily at his side for the camera. Since she started dating musician Quincy Jones, things have been looking up again, both professionally and personally.“ It doesn’t get any better than this! (PP’s note)
I took the black and white portrait photo of this tableau in 2014 at a press conference for the premiere of the film „Cathedrals of Culture“ on January 10, 2019, at the Metro Cinema.

I asked Wim Wenders about the restoration of his films – I compiled his answer into a video:
