Verkleidung / dressing up. Langwies, Wien | AT; Montreal | CA; NYC | US; Roma | IT · 1995–2019 (© PP · Ewiges Archiv) Auf der Suche nach Archivmaterialien zum Thema „Auto-Beschriftungen“ bin ich auf die Aufnahme der Konfrontation zwischen Stadtindianer und den Polizisten gestoßen (gr. Foto re.), die mich dann mehr als die Auto-Beschriftungen interessiert und mich dazu geführt hat, im Department „Verkleidungen“ zu stöbern. „Naturgemäß“ ist dieses Abteilung voll mit Materialien – nicht zuletzt durch die seit einigen Jahren stattfindenden „Regenbogen-Paraden“, Anime- & Cosplay-Conventions etc. Aber: das ist dann doch etwas zu einfach zu sammelndes Material – mich interessieren eher die Off-Broadway-Situationen, Alltags-Begegnungen. Der „Stop-E$$o“-Tigerin (gr. Foto li.) bin ich bei einer Demo gegen den Irak-Krieg begegnet – die Öl-Firma „ESSO“ bzw. natürlich nur der Markenname, ist vom Markt verschwunden, wurde wohl intern umgeschichtet . . .

Oberste Regel bei Anime- bzw Cosplay-Events: Immer vor der Aufnahme fragen! Aus prinzipiellen Gründen natürlich, aber auch deshalb, weil die Characters alle ganz spezifische, charakteristische Positionen und Accessoires haben, die vor der Aufnahme eingenommen bzw. arrangiert werden wollen.

Langwies, Vienna | AT; Montreal | CA; NYC | US; Roma | IT · 1995-2019 (© PP · Ewiges Archiv) In search of archive material on the subject of “car labels” I came across the recording of the confrontation between a ”city Indian” and the police (Photo right), which me then more interested than the car labels and led me to rummage in the department “disguises”. “Naturally”, this department is full of materials – not least because of the taking place for some years “rainbow parades”, anime & cosplay conventions etc. But: that’s a bit too easy to collect material – I’m more interested in the off -Broadway situations, everyday encounters. The “Stop-E $$o” -Tigeress (large photo left) I met in a demo against the Iraq war – the oil company “ESSO” or of course only the brand name, has disappeared from the market in the meantime
Top rule in anime or cosplay events: Always ask before recording! For reasons of principle, of course, but also because the characters all have very specific, characteristic positions and accessories that want to be taken or arranged before the recording.
