Unboxing the „Lidl Österreich Rette mich Box“ um schlanke 3 € mit einem Geschmack von Exotic! Wien | AT · 2026 (© PP · # 3845 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Im Rahmen der großangelegten, standardisierten Studie des Ewigen Archivs „Besser leben ohne Nix“ – Zitat nach dem experimentellen Bildhauer Götz Bury – wurde nun auch die „Rette mich Box“ der deutschen Lidl-Kette präzise untersucht. Bisher wurden bereits adäquate Zusammenstellungen von BILLA und SPAR Österreich getestet (s. link). Die Lidl-Kistl wurden mir von der Marktforscherin Mischa Reska und von Sabine Pawlik, Friseurmeisterin meines Vertrauens, empfohlen. Erstversuch in der Filiale Wallgasse, gelegen eher klandestin in einer Senke zwischen Suchthilfe Gumpendorf und Aidshilfe-Haus um 9 Uhr: Noch kein „Retter-Paket“ im Angebot, laut Auskunft der freundlichen Mitarbeiter „kommen erst so gegen 11 Uhr, versprechen kann ich’s nicht, je nachdem, wenn der/er eben Zeit hat. Sind aber schnell weg!“ Zweitversuch gegen High Noon: Tatsächlich: in Kassanähe, aber schon nach der Kassa, stehen vier kompakte Karton-Kisten zur Wahl, alle vier durchaus ansprechend gefüllt. Nach kurzer Evaluation für eines entschieden – in anderen waren zB Marillen, nix gegen Marillen, aber im Allgemeinen sind die hart, bleiben hart und haben einfach keinen Geschmack. Was ich exotisierend fand, war, dass auch zwei mir eher unbekannte Früchte dabei waren, die mein Sohn dann später als Kakteen-Früchte deutete. Selbstverständlich wollte ich den Inhalt nach dem Vorbild der professionell gestalteten, wunderbaren Kochgenossen-Kochvideos sauber und geordnet aufgelegt fotografieren – allerdings fiel mir dann die ganze Kiste beim Abstellen des Fahrrades vor dem Lift des Werkstatt-Hofes vom Radträger (hatte sie nur mit einem Elastband befestigt, ich Trottel) – was ich dann aber auch ganz ok fand.

Inhalt:

1 Box Weintrauben rot/grün (sehr guter Geschmack)

2 Orangen – eine davon leicht angeschlagen, aber bereits beide ausgepresst und sehr gut befunden.

3 Nektarinen

22 Zwetschken (sicher mehr als 1/2 Kilo)

1 Banane (auf einer Kante leicht offen, aber sicher noch einwandfrei und fest)

1 Birne

1 Zitrone

1 kg (mindestens) Erdäpfel

und:

2 Kakteen-Früchte (oder wie die heißen)

Das adrett drapierte, aber original so hingefallene Kryptonite-Bügelschloss war nicht in der „Lidl Österreich Rette mich Box“

Ausständig zum Testen sind natürlich noch die deutschen „Penny Markt-“, „Hofer/Aldi-“ Ketten und die türkischen „Etsan-Supermärkte“ – haben die genannten diese oder ähnliche „Retter Pakete“? Gibt es noch weitere Angebote?

Vienna | AT · 2026 (© PP · # 3845 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) As part of the Eternal Archive’s large-scale, standardized study „Better Living Without Nothing“ – a quote from the experimental sculptor Götz Bury – the „Rescue Box“ from the German Lidl chain has now been examined in detail. Similar boxes from BILLA and SPAR Austria have already been tested (see link). The Lidl boxes were recommended to me by market researcher Mischa Reska and by Sabine Pawlik, my trusted master hairdresser. First attempt at the Wallgasse branch, rather inconspicuously located in a dip between the Gumpendorf addiction support center and the AIDS support center at 9 a.m.: No „rescue package“ available yet. According to the friendly staff, „They won’t be here until around 11 a.m., I can’t promise anything, it depends on when they have time. But they’ll be gone quickly!“ Second attempt against the backdrop of high noon: Sure enough, near the checkout, but already past it, there were four compact cardboard boxes to choose from, all four quite attractively filled. After a quick evaluation, I decided on one – others contained, for example, apricots. Nothing against apricots, but generally they’re hard, stay hard, and simply have no flavor. What I found exotic was that there were also two fruits that were rather unfamiliar to me, which my son later identified as cactus fruits. Of course, I wanted to photograph the contents neatly and tidily, following the example of the professionally produced, wonderful cooking videos from my fellow cooks – however, the whole box fell off the bike rack when I parked my bicycle in front of the workshop yard lift (I’d only secured it with an elastic band, idiot me) – which I was actually quite happy about.

Contents:

1 box of red/green grapes (very good taste)

2 oranges – one of them slightly bruised, but I’ve already squeezed both and found them to be very good.

3 nectarines
22 plums (definitely more than half a kilo)
1 banana (slightly split on one side, but definitely still perfectly fine and firm)
1 pear
1 lemon
1 kg (at least) potatoes

and:

2 cactus fruits (or whatever they’re called)

The neatly arranged, but genuinely fallen-over Kryptonite U-lock wasn’t in the „Lidl Austria Rescue Box.“

Still to be tested are the German „Penny Markt“ and „Hofer/Aldi“ chains, and the Turkish „Etsan“ supermarkets—do they offer these or similar „rescue packages“? Are there any other offers?
