Faak am See, Vorderberg, Wien | AT · 2008–2024 (© PP · # 3063 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Das Zitat von Federico Fellini fotografierte ich am 15. Mai 2020 am BURG KINO in Wien, zur Zeit des ersten(?) Lockdowns der Covid-19-Pandemie, als Kinos, Theater, Schulen uvm. geschlossen waren – auch schon wieder eine Zeit her. Was war da? Wieso Lockdown? Woran kann ich mich noch erinnern? Filme von Federico Fellini schaue ich mir immer wieder an – eine der besten Szenen für mich ist in seinem Film „ROMA“, als er mit einem großen Filmteam mit Kamerawagen, Licht etc. bei Regen über eine verstopfte Autobahn nach Rom fährt. Das Bild rechts oben werden nur mehr sehr wenige deuten können: Es ist ein Kader aus einem Filmvorspann, aus einem „Leader“ – der Filmkader PICTURE START zeigt dem Vorführer an, dass das erste Bild des zu zeigenden Filmes in zwei Sekunden kommt. Ein Fragment aus der „analogen“ Zeit des Films, als es noch physischen Filmstreifen gab und keine Datenströme. Nicht, dass ich deswegen melancholisch werde, aber es ist ein Zeichen, wie sich Momente des Lebens ändern. Unaufhörlich.

Oben Mitte ist ein Detail einer Installation von Cornelius Kolig in seinem Paradies in Vorderberg – ein weiteres zugehöriges Detail ist hier nicht zu sehen: das Objekt ZIEL, aus Alu-Profilen zusammengeschweißt an der aus Beton-Schalsteinen gemauerten Umfassung des Areals. Dieses Tableau widme ich Cornelius Kolig, dessen Werk mich lange schon beschäftigt und sicher in diesem Jahr weiter intensiv beschäftigen wird. Er ist für mich ein Vorbild hinsichtlich der Intensität und Entschlossenheit, an einer Idee festzuhalten und ein Werk weiterzuführen. Allen Widrigkeiten zum Trotz.

#RESTART YOUR HEART war eine Kampagne von Amnesty International Austria im Jahr 2017. Könnte zum Jahresbeginn 2024 wieder einmal ein Anstoß sein, (m)ein Herz neu zu starten.

Faak am See, Vorderberg, Vienna | AT – 2008-2024 (© PP – # 3063 – www.ewigesarchiv.at) I photographed Federico Fellini’s quote at the BURG KINO in Vienna on 15 May 2020, during the first(?) lockdown of the Covid-19 pandemic, when cinemas, theatres, schools and much more were closed – again, some time ago. What happened then? Why the lockdown? What can I still remember? I watch films by Federico Fellini again and again – one of the best scenes for me is in his film “ROMA”, when he drives to Rome with a large film crew with camera cars, lights etc. on a congested motorway in the rain. Very few people will be able to interpret the picture on the top right: It is a frame from a film leader, from a “leader” – the film frame PICTURE START indicates to the projectionist that the first frame of the film to be shown will come in two seconds. A fragment from the “analogue” era of film, when there were still physical film strips and no data streams. Not that I get melancholy about it, but it’s a sign of how moments in life change. Incessantly.
Above centre is a detail of an installation by Cornelius Kolig in his paradise in Vorderberg – another related detail is not shown here: the object ZIEL, welded together from aluminium profiles on the area’s enclosure made of concrete formwork blocks. I dedicate this tableau to Cornelius Kolig, whose work has occupied me for a long time and will certainly continue to occupy me intensively this year. He is a role model for me in terms of the intensity and determination to hold on to an idea and continue a work. Against all odds.
#RESTART YOUR HEART was a campaign by Amnesty International Austria in 2017. Could once again be an impetus to restart (m)y heart at the beginning of 2024.
