Sitzmöbel-Bemalung im Jugendzentrum Simmering. Wien | AT · 1974–1977 (© PP · # 3592 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Mitte der 1970-er Jahre arbeitete ich einmal in der Woche, ich denke immer mittwochs, abends in diesem Jugendzentrum am Rand von Wien. Damals machte ich an der Sozialakademie der Gemeinde Wien eine Ausbildung zum Sozialarbeiter und studierte parallel dazu an der Angewandten. Die beiden SW-Fotos zeigen mich selber, es sind einige „frames“ eines etwa 8 Minuten langen SW-Filmes, den Jugendliche im Jugendzentrum Simmering in der Pantucekgasse, Nähe Zentralfriedhof, im Jahr 1974 mit meiner Eumig Normal 8 mm Kamera aufgenommen hatten.

Um den Hals hatte ich damals meinen „Nikkormat“-Fotoapparat gehängt. Derzeit „revitalisiere“ ich einige der Normal-8-mm Filme aus den 1970-er Jahren und bin dabei auch wieder auf einige Fotos gestoßen, die ich aufgenommen hatte, als Jugendliche damals, an den Abenden, als ich im Jugendzentrum arbeitete, mit mir Sitzmöbel, eigentlich Sitzblöcke aus Spanplatten, bemalten. Ich denke sehr gerne an die Zeit damals zurück und an die Begegnungen mit den Jugendlichen aus Simmering.

Vienna | AT · 1974–1977 (© PP · # 3592 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) In the mid-1970s, I worked once a week, I think it was always on Wednesdays, in the evenings at this youth centre on the outskirts of Vienna. At the time, I was training to be a social worker at the Vienna Social Academy and studying at the University of Applied Arts at the same time. The two black-and-white photos show me; they are a few frames from an approximately 8-minute-long black-and-white film that young people at the Simmering Youth Centre in Pantucekgasse, near the Central Cemetery, had shot in 1974 with my Eumig Normal 8 mm camera.

At the time, I had my Nikkormat camera hanging around my neck. I am currently ‘revitalising’ some of the standard 8 mm films from the 1970s and have come across some photos that I took as a teenager back then, in the evenings when I worked at the youth centre, painting seating furniture, actually seating blocks made of chipboard. I have very fond memories of that time and of meeting the young people from Simmering.
