Meine Filme im Cinema dei Piccoli! Roma | IT · 2003 (© PP · # 2976 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Weil grad Viennale ist, weil ich gestern und heute früh Fedrico Fellinis „La città delle donne“ (Stadt der Frauen) auf meinem 13“ Macbook Pro angeschaut habe, das zwar alt, aber noch einen DVD-Player hat, und weil ich im Department „Kino“ des Ewigen Archivs über einige Fotos eines kleinen Kinos gestolpert bin: Vor zwanzig Jahren war ich eingeladen worden, bei „animaction“, einem Filmfestival in Rom einige meiner Animationsfilme zu zeigen. Empfohlen hatte mich der Filmemacher Pierre Hebert, den ich 1988 in Montréal kennengelernt hatte, im Programm waren ua. Filme von ihm selbst, vom Neuseeländer Len Lye (Free Radicals) und von Lotte Reininger. Besonders freute ich mich, als mir bei der Ankunft in Rom die Veranstalter das Plakat und das Programmheft zeigten, auf denen ein Filmstill aus meinem Film Mont Real abgebildet war – ich selbst nackt mit einer Maske und dem Text „THEY STOLE MY EYES“. Die Vorführungen fanden in einem kleinen, wunderbaren Holzgebäude mitten in einem Park in Rom statt, im Cinema dei Piccoli, dem Kino der Kleinen. Es war insgesamt großartig. Seid mit den Kleinen!

Roma | IT – 2003 (© PP – # 2976 – www.ewigesarchiv.at) Because it’s Viennale, because yesterday and this morning I watched Fedrico Fellini’s “La città delle donne” (City of Women) on my 13″ Macbook Pro, which is old but still has a DVD player, and because I stumbled across some photos of a small cinema in the “Cinema” department of the Eternal Archive: Twenty years ago I had been invited to show some of my animated films at “animaction”, a film festival in Rome. I had been recommended by the filmmaker Pierre Hebert, whom I had met in Montréal in 1988, and the programme included films by himself, by the New Zealander Len Lye (Free Radicals) and by Lotte Reininger. I was particularly pleased when, on arrival in Rome, the organisers showed me the poster and the programme booklet, on which a film still from my film Mont Real was depicted – myself naked with a mask and the text “THEY STOLE MY EYES”. The screenings took place in a small, wonderful wooden building in the middle of a park in Rome, the Cinema dei Piccoli, the cinema of the little ones. It was great overall. Be with the little ones!
