Mein Vater fotografiert 1958 die Große Sphinx von Gizeh und ich pinkle 2019 im Rijksmuseum Amsterdam in ein Pissoir namens Sphinx. Amsterdam | NL; Gizeh | EG; Wien | AT · 1899–2019 (© s. Text © PP · # 2542 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Das große Foto links ist Teil des Konvolutes von Farbdias, Schwarz-Weiß-Fotos und Negativen, die mein Vater Karl A. Putz hinterlassen hatte nach seinem Tod im Jahr 1983. Es entstand entweder auf der Reise nach Mosul/Irak im Jahr 1958 oder auf der Rückreise nach Österreich. Im Jahr 1958 wurde nämlich in Mosul eine Berufsschule unter österreichischer Leitung aufgebaut bzw. errichtet – er war einer der Lehrer dort. Nach der von Saddam Hussein geführten Revolution gegen König Faisal im Juli 1958 verließ ein Großteil der Lehrer das Land. Das SW-Foto daneben wurde 1962 im Belvedere-Garten in Wien bei einer anderen Sphinx von meinem Vater aufgenommen. Es zeigt meine Mutter im „Pepita-Mantel“, meinen Bruder auf ihrem Schoß sitzend, meinen Cousin Hans Kienesberger im dunklen Pullover mit Kniestrümpfen und mich rechts vorne sitzend im hellen Pullover, „ausgestelltem Kragen“ und Sandalen. Es gibt ein Pendant dazu mit meinem Vater, das die Mutter aufgenommen hat. Beide Fotos sind „im Original“ farbig, sie entstanden mit einer Kodak Instamatic 100 Kamera, die quadratische Bilder lieferte. Rechts unten eine „Nachstellung“ aus dem Jahr 2019 (Foto © B. M.)

2019 ist mir im WC des Rijksmuseum Amsterdam auf einem Keramik-Pissoir der Schriftzug Sphinx aufgefallen – mit stilisierter Darstellung.

My father photographs the Great Sphinx of Giza in 1958 and I pee in a urinal called the Sphinx at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam in 2019. Amsterdam | NL; Giza | ground floor; Vienna | AT 1899–2019 (© see text © PP # 2542 www.ewigesarchiv.at) The large photo on the left is part of the bundle of color slides, black-and-white photos and negatives that my father Karl A. Putz left behind after his death in 1983. It was created either on the journey to Mosul/Iraq in 1958 or on the return journey to Austria. In 1958, a vocational school was set up in Mosul under Austrian management – he was one of the teachers there. After the revolution led by Saddam Hussein against King Faisal in July 1958, the majority of teachers left the country. The b&w photo alongside was taken by my father in 1962 in the Belvedere Gardens in Vienna at another Sphinx. It shows my mother in a “Pepita coat”, my brother sitting on her lap, my cousin Hans Kienesberger in a dark pullover with knee-high socks and me sitting in the front right in a light-colored pullover, “flared collar” and sandals. There is a counterpart to this with my father, which the mother recorded. Both photos are “originally” in color, they were taken with a Kodak Instamatic 100 camera, which delivered square images. In 2019, I noticed the Sphinx lettering on a ceramic urinal in the toilet of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam – with a stylized representation.
