Wenn das eigene Leben nicht aufregend genug ist – dafür gibts die Kulisse! Langwies, Wien | AT · 1920–2012 (Kulissenfotos: © Philip Kwame Apagya/Ghana, Götz Bury, Johann Promberger. Tableau: © PP · Ewiges Archiv) Das SW-Foto links von Johann Promberger zeigt eine einzelne Frau inmitten einer Gruppe von Männern, teils sitzend, teils stehend, jedenfalls alle mit Hut. Hinter ihnen türmt sich ein Felsmassiv, darin zwei Bergsteiger am Seil. Der Berg und die Bergsteiger allerdings sind „nur“ eine gemalte Kulisse. Ich habe zu dieser Aufnahme keine weitere Information – möglicherweise eine Kulisse einer Theatergruppe oder ein Wandbild eines Gasthauses. Das Foto stammt jedenfalls von meinem Großvater, der zwischen 1910 und 1925 mit einer Plattenkamera fotografiert hat, am oberen Teil ist der Rand des Glasnegatives zu sehen, rechts unten die HAlterung, mit der das Glasnegativ in der Kamera befestigt worden war. Die oberen und unteren beiden Fotos auf der linken Seite stammen aus dem Jahr 2001 und wurden in der Ausstellung „Flash Afrika“ in der Kunsthalle Wien aufgenommen: Der Fotograf Philip Kwame Apagya aus Ghana hatte ein Fotostudio eingerichtet und die Kulissen seines Studios in Ghana mitgebracht, vor denen sich Besucher*innen fotografieren lassen konnten. Oben links ich auf dem Flughafen von Ghana, links unten an einem gemalten Computer-Arbeitsplatz – jeweils daneben Philip Kwame Apagya bei der Arbeit. Ein Meister der Kulissenfotografie ist der Künstler Götz Bury, in dessen „Traumfabrik“ in der Grundsteingasse es jahrelang möglich war, alle Phantasien und Träume eines aufregenderen Lebens visualisieren zu lassen – wovon ich ausgiebig Gebrauch gemacht habe. Behind them a massif of rock towers, in it two climbers on the rope. The mountain and mountaineers, however, are “only” a painted backdrop. I have no further information on this recording – possibly a backdrop of a theater group or a mural of an inn. In any case, the photograph was taken by my grandfather, who photographed between 1910 and 1925 with a plate camera, the upper part shows the edge of the glass negatives, and the right hand side shows the attachment with which the glass negative was fixed in the camera. The upper and lower two photos on the left are from the year 2001 and were taken in the exhibition “Flash Africa” in the Kunsthalle Wien: The photographer Philip Kwame Apagya from Ghana had set up a photo studio and brought the scenes of his studio in Ghana, in front of which visitors could be photographed. At the top left, at the Ghana airport, at the bottom left corner of a painted computer workstation – next to it Philip Kwame Apagya at work. A master of the scenery photography is the artist Götz Bury, in whose “dream factory” in the Grundsteingasse it was possible for years to visualize all the fantasies and dreams of a more exciting life – which I used extensively.
