Kofi Setordji, Künstler. Accra | GH; Wien | AT · 2015–2024 (Fotos re. s. text © PP · # 3117 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Kofi Setordji ist ein bekannter Künstler aus Ghana, ich lernte ihn im Jahr 2015 kennen im Rahmen einer Kooperation der Textilklasse der Angewandten von Barbara Putz-Plecko mit der nubuke-Foundation in Ghana, die Weberinnen in einer ländlichen Region unterstützt. Als Kofi Setordji damals in mein Studio kam, fiel sein Blick auf die Krone, die Götz Bury aus gebrauchtem Besteck für mich angefertigt hatte und war sehr amüsiert darüber. Er bat mich, ihn mit der Krone zu fotografieren. Er wollte sich über die Briefmarken mit der Queen lustig machen, denn Ghana war lange Zeit auch eine Kronkolonie des Britischen Kolonial-Imperiums. Ich bin mit Kofi immer wieder über einen Messenger-Dienst in Kontakt, er schickt mir ab und zu Fotos aus seinem Atelier, gestern die Nachricht: „Happy New Month“, über die ich mich sehr freute. Das Foto links unten zeigt ein nach seinem Entwurf von den oben erwähnten Weberinnen gewebtes Tuch, das er mir vor einiger Zeit geschickt hatte, daneben Barbara Putz-Plecko mit Odile Tevie, nubuke foundation und Kofi Setordje bei einem Besuch in meinem Studio, 2017. Accra | GH; Vienna | AT – 2015-2024 (Photos r. s. text © PP – # 3117 – www.ewigesarchiv.at) Kofi Setordji is a well-known artist from Ghana, I met him in 2015 as part of a cooperation between Barbara Putz-Plecko’s textile class at the Angewandte and the nubuke foundation in Ghana, which supports weavers in a rural region. When Kofi Setordji came into my studio, he saw the crown that Götz Bury had made for me from used cutlery and was very amused by it. He asked me to take a photo of him with the crown. He wanted to make fun of the stamps with the Queen, because Ghana was also a crown colony of the British colonial empire for a long time. I am always in contact with Kofi via a messenger service, he sends me photos from his studio from time to time, yesterday the message: “Happy New Month”, which I was very happy about. The photo on the bottom left shows a scarf woven according to his design by the weavers mentioned above, which he had sent me some time ago, next to it Barbara Putz-Plecko with Odile Tevie, nubuke foundation and Kofi Setordje during a visit to my studio, 2017.
