Im schönsten Kongressbad von Wien an den Film „Blue Velvet“ von David Lynch und an das „Rote Wien“ denken müssen. Wien | AT · 2023 (© PP · # 2944 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Knapp 30 Minuten mit dem Rad vom Studio in der Mollardgasse über die Hasnerstraße zügig gefahren zur Premiere ins im 16. Bezirk in der Nähe des Sandleitenhofes gelegenen Kongressbad, Eintritt nach 15 Uhr ermäßigt. Das Schild beim Eingang „Im gesamten Bad Wasserbomben verboten“ fotografiere ich nicht, weil ich die in der Nähe sitzende Mitarbeiterin nicht irritieren will. Vollständige Begeisterung bereits nach wenigen Schritten, sehr klar, wunderbar durchgehendes Farbkonzept. Tatsächlich unmittelbar an die Intro des Filmes „Blue Velvet“ von David Lynch denken müssen, in der ein rote Feuerwehrauto bei strahlendem Sonnenschein langsam vorbeifährt, ein Feuerwehrmann winkt ins Bild, ein Gartenschlauch macht sich selbständig, der Halter hat vermutlich einen Herzanfall erlitten, später wird ein abgeschnittenes Ohr im Gras entdeckt. Muss mir jetzt den Trailer anschauen, inwieweit meine Erinnerung mit der realen Irrealität des Filmes übereinstimmt.

Nachtrag: Grad angeschaut – stimmt weitgehend. Tatsächlich eine der besten Eröffnungsszenen eines Filmes.

KONGRESSBAD: Licht, Luft und Sonne

„Das Kongressbad, umgangssprachlich »Kongerl«, wird 1928 nach den Plänen von Erich Leischner direkt an der

Vorortelinie errichtet. Zu dieser Zeit ist es das modernste und größte Freibad Wiens, ursprünglich mit einem 100-Meter-Becken und einem 10-Meter-Sprungturm. Das Bad bildet mit dem benachbarten Kongresspark das Erholungsgebiet für die neuen Gemeindebauten des Roten Wien (1919-1934). Dazu zählt der Sandleitenhof mit mehr als 1.500 Wohnungen.

Als »Republik Konge« ist das Kongressbad ein wichtiger Treffpunkt im Widerstand gegen das NS-Regime.“

In the most beautiful congress pool in Vienna you have to think of the film “Blue Velvet” by David Lynch and “Red Vienna”. Vienna | AT · 2023 (© PP · # 2944 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Almost 30 minutes by bike from the studio in Mollardgasse via Hasnerstrasse to the premiere at the Kongressbad in the 16th district near the Sandleitenhof, entry after 15 p.m. reduced. I don’t take a photo of the sign at the entrance that says “water balloons are forbidden in the entire pool” because I don’t want to irritate the employee sitting nearby. Complete enthusiasm after just a few steps, very clear, wonderfully consistent color concept. In fact, you immediately have to think of the intro to the film “Blue Velvet” by David Lynch, in which a red fire engine drives slowly past in bright sunshine, a fireman waves into the picture, a garden hose turns on its own, the owner has probably suffered a heart attack, later on discovered a severed ear in the grass. I now have to watch the trailer to see to what extent my memory matches the real unreality of the film.
Addendum: Just looked at it – it’s largely true. Actually one of the best opening scenes in a film.

CONGRESS BATH: Light, air and sun
“The congress pool, colloquially known as “Kongerl”, was built in 1928 according to plans by Erich Leischner directly on the
Suburban line built. At that time it was the most modern and largest outdoor swimming pool in Vienna, originally with a 100-meter pool and a 10-meter diving tower. The pool, together with the neighboring Congress Park, forms the recreation area for the new municipal buildings of Red Vienna (1919-1934). This includes the Sandleitenhof with more than 1,500 apartments.
As the “Republic of Konge,” the congress pool is an important meeting point in the resistance against the Nazi regime.”
