Icelands. Eis frei – ein Service des Ewigen Archivs zur Abkühlung in heißen Zeiten. Gern geschehen! (Solange es halt noch Eis gibt) Amsterdam | NL; Montréal | CA; Vandans, Wien | AT · 1988–2022 (© PP · # 2516 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Was gibt es Schöneres, als weichgekocht nach einer heißen Nacht mit häufig unterbrochenem Kurzschlaf + heftigen Träumen in den Bilderbunker des Ewigen Archivs im Department „Eis“ zu springen! Virtuell erfrischt und mit einem nassen Geschirrtuch am Schädel präsentiere ich mir stolz einige Prätiosen aus Nah und Fern. Das große Foto links zeigt eine Momentaufnahme des Kühlschrankes der gemieteten Wohnung in Montréal im Jahr 1988 mit kleinem, geöffneten Eisfach. Die Figurine des „Mounty“, der berittenen Polizei in Kanada, hatte ich sicherlich bei einem der wöchentlich stattgefundenen „Garage-Sales“ gekauft. Das Foto daneben ist erst vor rund zwei Wochen aufgenommen worden, bei der Graduation-Show der Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam: Ein Detail einer Installation mit dem Kompressor eines Eiskastens und durch den Raum geführten, partiell vereisten Kupferrohren. (Entgegen meiner Gewohnheit habe ich den Namen der/des Künstler*in nicht fotografiert).

Links oben ein sauber vereistes Autokennzeichen, daneben die eisige Abformung eines Kennzeichens. Rechts oben Reste einer Eis-Typo, die ich für einen Animationsfilm hergestellt und verwendet hatte.

(As long as there is still ice cream) Amsterdam | NL; Montreal | CA; Vandans, Vienna | AT · 1988–2022 (© PP · # 2516 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) What could be nicer than jumping into the picture bunker of the Eternal Archive in the “Ice Cream” department after a hot night with frequently interrupted short sleep + heavy dreams! Virtually refreshed and with a wet tea towel on my skull, I proudly present myself with a few gems from near and far. The large photo on the left shows a snapshot of the refrigerator in the rented apartment in Montréal in 1988 with the small, open freezer compartment. I must have bought the figurine of the “Mounty”, the mounted police in Canada, at one of the weekly “garage sales”. The photo next to it was taken just about two weeks ago, at the graduation show of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam: a detail of an installation with the compressor of an ice chest and partially iced copper pipes running through the room. (Contrary to my habit, I did not photograph the artist’s name).
On the top left a clean iced license plate, next to it the icy cast of a license plate. Top right remains of an ice cream typo that I made and used for an animated film.
