Günter Brus (1938–2024). Bolzano | IT; Villach, Wien | AT · 1970–2019 (© PP · # 3105 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Bei manchen Todesmeldungen von Künstler*innen denke ich mir: Hat mich Person und Werk beschäftigt, berührt? Die SW-Aufnahme links oben machte ich bei einer Ausstellung von Gemeinschaftsarbeiten von Günter Brus und Arnulf Rainer im Jahr 1984, als Brus das Plakat signierte, das Foto darunter stammt aus 2019, aufgenommen während einer Eröffnung in Wien, 2019. Eine Radierung, vier von Brus gestaltete, gezeichnete Plakate zu seinen Ausstellungen, einige Einladungen und ein Exemplar der „Schastrommel“ Nr. 2, sind Teil der Sammlung des Ewigen Archivs. Die „Schastrommel“ ist eine von Günter Brus herausgegebene Publikation im Format A4, erschienen 1970 in Bolzano. Zweite Auflage zwar, aber immerhin. Die Titelseite der Publikation, dachte ich, wäre eine prägnante Arbeit – allerdings hätte ich sie großteils unscharf machen oder überdecken, also zensurieren müssen, um sie auf FB zu zeigen. Das fand ich dann nicht dem Werk von Günter Brus entsprechend, darum entschied mich für das Frontispiz (re.)

I took the black and white photo at the top left at an exhibition of joint works by Günter Brus and Arnulf Rainer in 1984, when Brus signed the poster, the photo below is from 2019, taken during an opening in Vienna, 2019. An etching, four posters designed and drawn by Brus for his exhibitions, some invitations and a copy of “Schastrommel” No. 2 are part of the collection of the Eternal Archive. The “Schastrommel” is an A4-sized publication edited by Günter Brus and published in Bolzano in 1970. Second edition, but still. I thought the title page of the publication was a concise work – but I would have had to blur or cover it up, i.e. censor it, in order to show it on FB. I didn’t think that was in keeping with Günter Brus’ work, so I decided to use the frontispiece (right)
