Das Sinnieren bzw. Kontemplieren, wem denn sogenannte „Anonyme Kunst“ gehören würde, insbesondere solche, die ich mir in einem „rechtsfreien Raum“ angeeignet, unter den Nagel gerissen, sichergestellt etc habe (s. dazu link) führte mich zu einer weiteren Grafik, des/der vermutlich gleichen Autor*in wie beim auch so sujetmäßig bezeichneten Werk „KUNST“. Ebenfalls ein Hochdruck, ein großformatiger, einfärbiger (rot) Stempeldruck, der Druckstock möglicherweise relativ leicht zu bearbeitender Wellkarton (die Lettern müssen ja seitenverkehrt herausgeschnitten werden), links unten mit grünem Filzstift nummeriert: 13/47, also eine Edition mit niederer Auflage, rechts unten datiert: 2002 und für mich unleserlich signiert: O / h S (??) Die Dechiffrierung muss ich diesfalls gerichtlich beeideten Grapholog*innen bzw. Kryptolog*innen überlassen. Das Sujet selbst eine Textarbeit: „ACHTUNG! Bevor die Rückseite abgenommen wird, muss zuerst der Stecker aus der Steckdose gezogen werden.“ Demnach ein potentiell philanthropischer Warnhinweis, jedenfalls eine klar formulierte Gebrauchsanweisung. Da kein Gerät, kein Apparat in der Nähe des wieder an einem Bauzaun mit Klebestreifen angebrachten Druckwerkes stand, entschloss ich mich auch diesfalls, die Grafik vorsichtig abzulösen, die schrecklichen Klebestreifen soweit möglich zu entfernen und das Werk der Kunst-Sammlung des Ewigen Archivs einzugliedern. Wieder ohne Gegenleistung, wieder ohne zu fragen, also eine Usurpation, potentiell eine Appropriation, jedenfalls eine ungefragte Entnahme. Jahre, Jahrzehnte vorher, genau: 1988, hatte ich bereits Illustrationen aus Gebrauchsanweisungen verwendet für meinen Film „Mont Real“, den ich im Rahmen eines Aufenthaltes als artist in residency an der Concordia University in Montréal/CA produzierte. Insbesondere hatte mich damals die sehr schöne Illustration inspirierte, die das Öffnen eines Käseeckerls („La vache qui rit“) sehr anschaulich schrittweise demonstrierte. (rechts oben)

Ich finde es immer wieder großartig, dass es ab und zu gute Richtlinien und deutlich illustrierte Gebrauchsanweisungen gibt, die mir helfen, mein absehbar kurzes Leben einigermaßen zu bewältigen.

Pondering and contemplating who would own so-called “anonymous art”, especially art that I appropriated, stole, secured, etc. in a “legal vacuum” (see link) led me to another graphic , by the presumably same author as in the case of the work “ART”, which is also referred to as the subject. Also a letterpress, a large-format, one-color (red) stamp print, the printing block possibly relatively easy to work with corrugated cardboard (the letters have to be cut out the wrong way round), numbered in green felt-tip pen on the lower left: 13/47, i.e. an edition with a limited edition, on the right Dated below: 2002 and signed illegibly for me: O / h S (??) In this case, I have to leave the decoding to court-certified graphologists or cryptologists. The subject itself is a text work: “WARNING! Before the back is removed, the plug must first be pulled out of the socket.” So a potentially philanthropic warning, or at least clearly formulated instructions for use. Since there was no device, no apparatus in the vicinity of the printed work, which was again attached to a site fence with adhesive strips, I decided to carefully detach the graphic, remove the terrible adhesive strips as far as possible and integrate the work into the art collection of the Eternal Archive. Again without consideration, again without asking, that is, a usurpation, potentially an appropriation, at any rate an unsolicited withdrawal. Years, decades earlier, to be precise: in 1988, I had already used illustrations from operating instructions for my film “Mont Real”, which I produced as part of a stay as an artist in residency at Concordia University in Montréal/CA. I was particularly inspired at the time by the very beautiful illustration, which very clearly demonstrated the step-by-step opening of a cheese cake (“La vache qui rit”). (top right)
I always think it’s great that there are good guidelines and clearly illustrated instructions for use every now and then to help me get through my foreseeable short life to some extent.
