Wem gehört anonyme „Kunst“? Und: Was hat die Künstlerin Irene Andessner damit zu tun? Wien | AT · 2002 (Grafik © NN. · © Fotos & Repros © PP · # 2672 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Die hier abgebildete Grafik „KUNST” ist ganz offensichtlich ein einfärbiger (dunkelgrau) Hochdruck auf Papier, rechts unten mit rotem Filzstift beschriftet, unleserlich/schwer leserlich signiert „ÖENTE“ (?), nummeriert 22/35, also ein Exemplar aus einer Edition und datiert: 200210. Sie war mit transparenten Klebstreifen (Reste unablösbar noch am Papier) befestigt auf einem Bauzaun vor dem kurz vor Abriss stehenden Komplex „Wien Mitte“ im 3. Wiener Gemeindebezirk. Nach Prüfung des Werks und kurzer Überlegung, Abwägung der Situation entschloss ich mich vor etwas mehr als 20 Jahren, dieses von mir vorerst der Gattung „anonymer Kunst“ zugeordnete Werk abzunehmen – auch in der Annahme, dass es mit ziemlicher Gewissheit in naher Zukunft abgerissen und zerstört werden würde. Ich entzog es also ungefragt (wen hätte ich fragen sollen?) dem städtischen Biotop und auch der von der/dem Autor*in gewählten Öffentlichkeit. Der Sammler bzw. Archivar in mir hatte obsiegt, der physischen Kunstsammlung des Ewigen Archivs, Abteilung „Anonyme Kunst“, wurde ein weiteres Artefakt eingegliedert und eingepflegt. Die Restaurierarbeiten beschränkten sich bisher auf die soweit irgend mögliche Entfernung von säurehaltigen Klebestreifen, Erzfeinde jedes/jeder Sammler*in. Mit der gerollten „Kunstbeute“ machte ich mich auf den Heimweg, damals noch Richtung Kolonitzplatz im 3. Bezirk. In der eher weniger feudalen Halle des Bahnhofes Wien Mitte traf ich unversehens auf die Künstlerin Irene Andessner, stehend telefonierend. Da ich zu dieser Zeit mit meinem Kollegen Florian R. für Irene Andessner für ihr Projekt „Wanda SM“ für Graz – Kulturhauptstadt Europas 2003 arbeitete, entschloss ich mich spontan, ihr diese soeben appropriierte „KUNST“-Grafik zu Füßen zu legen und beide zu fotografieren: die geschätzte Künstlerin und das graphische Werk. Voilá!

Wobei natürlich noch immer nicht beantwortet ist, ob ich die Grafik jetzt rechtmäßig an mich genommen habe.

Vienna | AT · 2002 (Graphic © NN. · © Photos & Repros © PP · # 2672 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) The graphic “ART” shown here is obviously a one-color (dark gray) letterpress on paper, written on the bottom right with a red felt-tip pen , signed illegibly/barely legibly “ÖENTE” (?), numbered 22/35, i.e. a copy from an edition and dated: 200210. It was attached with transparent adhesive strips (remnants still on the paper cannot be removed) on a site fence in front of the shortly before demolition standing complex “Wien Mitte” in the 3rd district of Vienna. After examining the work and briefly considering and weighing up the situation, I decided a little over 20 years ago to accept this work, which I initially assigned to the genre “anonymous art” – also on the assumption that it will almost certainly be demolished in the near future and would be destroyed. So, without being asked (who should I have asked?), I withdrew it from the urban biotope and also from the public chosen by the author. The collector and archivist in me had prevailed, another artefact was incorporated and maintained in the physical art collection of the Eternal Archives, department “Anonymous Art”. The restoration work has so far been limited to the removal of acidic adhesive strips, archenemies of every collector. With the rolled “art booty” I made my way home, at that time still in the direction of Kolonitzplatz in the 3rd district. In the rather less posh hall of the Wien Mitte train station, I unexpectedly met the artist Irene Andessner, standing and talking on the phone. Since I was working with my colleague Florian R. at that time for Irene Andessner on her project “Wanda SM” for Graz – European Capital of Culture 2003, I spontaneously decided to lay this just-approved “ART” graphic at her feet and both photograph: the esteemed artist and the graphic work. Voila!
Although, of course, it has still not been answered whether I have now lawfully taken the graphic with me.
