Brussel / Bruxelles / Brüssel | BE; Wien | AT · 2021–2024 (© PP · # 3195 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Das Filmhaus am Spittelberg ist ein kleines Kino und der Film über die US-Softwarefirma Palantir und deren Mitgründer und CEO Alex Karp lief um 18.15 Uhr – trotzdem war ich überrascht, dass im Saal verteilt nur etwa 10 Personen waren, die ihn sich anschauen wollten. Gut – auch ich hatte gezögert: so lustig wird’s wohl nicht sein, eine Dokumentation über eine Firma, die für CIA, NSA, Geheimdienste und Militär aller möglichen Staaten gigantische Daten analysiert und im Grunde die Voraussetzung und Struktur für eine totale, bisher unvortsellbare Überwachung und Behrrschung der Welt im Dineste des militärisch-industriellen Komplexes schafft:

Der US-Unternehmer Alex Karp hat mit seiner Firma Palantir Technologies die erfolgreiche und gleichzeitig umstrittene Datenanalyse-Software „Gotham“ geschaffen. Sie befähigt einerseits Staaten zur umfassenden Überwachung ihrer Bürger*innen. Andererseits unterstützt sie Geheimdienste, Militär und Polizeibehörden, letztere auch in Deutschland, mit Informationen, die Verbrechen aufklären – oder zum gezielten Töten genutzt werden. Derzeit ist Palantir wichtiger Partner der Ukraine im Verteidigungskrieg gegen Russland. Die Firma ist so verschwiegen wie mysteriös. Sie wurde groß mit ihrer Arbeit für CIA und NSA. An der Börse ist sie über 50 Mrd. US-Dollar wert. Mit ihrer Hilfe soll Osama Bin Laden zur Strecke gebracht worden sein. Der eine Gründer, Peter Thiel, ist ein rechter Libertärer mit recht bizarren Ansichten, der offen Trump unterstützte. Der andere, Alex Karp, bezeichnet sich selbst als Neomarxist und Linker; ist stolz darauf, dass seine Eltern Hippies waren. Heute führt er als CEO die größte kommerzielle Überwachungsfirma der Welt. Er bekennt trocken: „Unser Produkt kann zum Töten von Menschen eingesetzt werden.“

Brussel / Bruxelles / Brüssel | BE; Wien | AT – 2021-2024 (© PP – # 3195 – www.ewigesarchiv.at) The Filmhaus am Spittelberg is a small cinema and the film about the US software company Palantir and its co-founder and CEO Alex Karp was showing at 6.15 pm – but I was still surprised that there were only about 10 people in the auditorium who wanted to watch it. Well – I had also hesitated: it probably won’t be that funny, a documentary about a company that analyses gigantic amounts of data for the CIA, NSA, secret services and the military of all kinds of countries and basically creates the conditions and structure for total, previously unimaginable surveillance and monitoring of the world in the service of the military-industrial complex:

With his company Palantir Technologies, US entrepreneur Alex Karp has created the successful yet controversial data analysis software “Gotham”. On the one hand, it enables states to comprehensively monitor their citizens. On the other hand, it supports intelligence services, the military and police authorities, including in Germany, with information that can be used to solve crimes – or for targeted killings. Palantir is currently an important partner of Ukraine in the defence war against Russia. The company is as secretive as it is mysterious. It became big with its work for the CIA and NSA. It is worth over 50 billion US dollars on the stock exchange. Osama Bin Laden is said to have been hunted down with its help. One of its founders, Peter Thiel, is a right-wing libertarian with rather bizarre views who openly supported Trump. The other, Alex Karp, describes himself as a neo-Marxist and leftist and is proud of the fact that his parents were hippies. Today, he is CEO of the largest commercial surveillance company in the world. He admits dryly: “Our product can be used to kill people.”
