Vier Männer – einer davon Aki Kaurismäki – am Flohmarkt Am Hof im 1. Bezirk, ein Normal 8 mm Film und eine kleine Bronze-Büste von Adolf Hitler. Ulrich Seidl für Anfänger. Wien | AT · um 1973 (© PP · # 2238 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Ich habe wieder einmal einige Normal 8 mm und Super 8 mm Filme, die ich in den 1970-er Jahren aufgenommen hatte, „digitalisieren“ lassen. Nicht zum ersten Mal, früher, ganz früher hatte ich sie schon auf Video im PAL-Format (720 x 576 pixel) überspielen lassen, dann vor einigen Jahren in HD (allerdings hochgerechnet und in falschem Seitenverhältnis), jetzt vor einigen Wochen in wirklich ausgezeichneter Auflösung neu. Es ist nicht leicht, Filme, Videos, Fotografien einigermaßen aktuell zu bewahren, „die Technik“ ändert sich laufend, alle Formate sind gefährdet. Wie heutzutage Familienvideos, Fotos etc. für die nächste Generation aufbewahrt werden, ist mir ein völliges Rätsel. Nach dieser etwas behäbigen Intro: Auf einem der Normal 8 mm Filme gibt es eine nur 14 Sekunden lange Sequenz, die ich um 1973 am Flohmarkt Am Hof aufgenommen hatte. In den 1970-er Jahren war der samstägliche Flohmarkt in Wien „Am Hof“, in der Nähe des Grabens im ersten Bezirk in Wien. Erst seit Ende der 1970-er Jahre ist der Parkplatz am oberen Ende des Naschmarktes der neue Standort. Diese Sequenz beginnt mit einer Naheinstellung auf eine kleine, am Boden stehende Bronze-Büste von Adolf Hitler. Ich kann mich gut an diese Aufnahmen erinnern. Nachdem der Verkäufer mein Interesse bemerkt hatte, nahm er die Büste in die Hand und posierte damit vor mir/für mich. Bei der Zusammenstellung dieses Tableaus und beim Betrachten der einzelnen Frames (Bilder) des kurzen Filmes fielen mir die drei Männer hinter ihm auf (gr. Foto links): Einer mit kleinem Hut und Mantel mit Kuli in der Hand, der etwas in ein Notizbuch notiert, und zwei Männer in den damals üblichen, grünen Military-Jacken mit Druckknöpfen. Der vordere mit Sonnenbrille: Ist das nicht eindeutig Aki Kaurismäki?

It is not easy to keep films, videos and photographs fairly up-to-date, “the technology” is constantly changing, all formats are at risk. How family videos, photos, etc. are kept for the next generation these days is a complete mystery to me. After this somewhat sedate intro: On one of the normal 8 mm films there is a sequence of just 14 seconds that I recorded at the Am Hof flea market around 1973. In the 1970s, the Saturday flea market in Vienna was “Am Hof”, near the Graben in Vienna’s first district. The car park at the upper end of the Naschmarkt has only been the new location since the late 1970s. This sequence begins with a close-up view of a small bronze bust of Adolf Hitler standing on the floor. I can remember these recordings well. After the seller noticed my interest, he took the bust in his hand and posed with it in front of me / for me. While putting this tableau together and looking at the individual frames (pictures) of the short film, I noticed the three men behind him (large photo on the left): One with a small hat and coat with a pen in his hand, who is making notes in a notebook , and two men in the green military jackets with press studs that were common at the time. The one in front with sunglasses: Isn’t that clearly Aki Kaurismäki?
