Viele Grüße aus Sydney! Es geht mir sehr gut – so schaut’s hier aus. (Ein Rekonstruktionsversuch ∞ Eine Geistreise) Sydney | AU · 1958 (Foto © N.N. · Tableau © PP · # 2173 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Unter den 32 SW-Fotos, von denen ich annehme, dass sie ein aus Oberösterreich in den 1950-er Jahren nach Australien Auswanderter in die Heimat geschickt hatte, die in dem Konvolut der von einem befreundeten Künstler „geretteten/aufgehobenen Fotos“ dabei waren und die ich zur Sichtung übernommen habe (s. link unten), finden sich auch diese drei Aufnahmen, die ich für dieses Tableau zusammengestellt habe. Warum diese drei und woher weiß ich, dass sie in Sydney aufgenommen wurden? Von den erwähnten Fotos war nur eines beschriftet und mit „Ostern 1958“ datiert auf der Rückseite, aber keines der hier veröffentlichten. Bei der zurückhaltenden Retusche des Fotos links oben – ich habe einige weiße Stellen ausgefleckt und Kontrast und Gradation des eher „flauen“ Fotos angehoben – konnte ich auf der Betonmauer, an der der Protagonist lehnt und in den Fotoapparat schaut, die Beschriftung „SYDNEY“ und „HEADS“ lesen – bei Letzterem auch ein auf eine Stadt- bzw. Landschafts-Silhouette verweisender Pfeil. Es scheint sich also um eine Aussichtsplattform auf einem Hochhaus gehandelt zu haben, darauf weist auch das Fernrohr hin. Blick auf die Stadt und den Hafen. Darunter eindeutig eine Hafenansicht, im rechten Drittel des Fotos ein Gebäude mit einem Sendemast – könnte die obige Aufnahme dort gemacht worden sein? Rechts ein Foto einer belebten Einkaufsstraße – Geschäftsbeschriftungen, Passant*innen, am linken Rand eine Reihe geparkter Autos. Hat der Ausgewanderte hier gelebt und gearbeitet – oder doch im Landesinneren, wo ein anderer Teil der Aufnahmen entstanden sind. Keine Ahnung – aber ein guter Anlass für eine Geistreise.

(An attempt at reconstruction ∞ A spirit journey) Sydney | AU · 1958 (Photo © NN · Tableau © PP · # 2173 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Among the 32 b / w photos that I assume were an emigrant from Upper Austria to Australia in the 1950s sent, which were included in the bundle of “saved / saved photos” by an artist friend and which I took over for viewing (see link below), you will also find these three photos that I have put together for this tableau. Why these three and how do I know they were recorded in Sydney? Of the photos mentioned, only one was labeled and dated “Easter 1958” on the back, but none of the photos published here. During the cautious retouching of the photo at the top left – I blotched out some white areas and increased the contrast and gradation of the rather “dull” photo – I could see the inscription “SYDNEY” and Read “HEADS” – with the latter also an arrow referring to a city or landscape silhouette. So it seems to have been a viewing platform on a high-rise, as the telescope indicates. View of the city and the port. Underneath it clearly a view of the port, in the right third of the photo a building with a transmitter mast – could the above picture have been taken there? On the right a photo of a busy shopping street – business signs, passers-by, on the left a row of parked cars.
Did the emigrant live and work here – or in the interior of the country, where another part of the recordings were made? I have no idea – but a good reason for a ghost trip.
