„Van Gogh hat auch nicht täglich Meisterwerk gemacht!“ Reimo Wukounig kommentiert die Portraits, die ich von ihm gezeichnet habe. Wien | AT · 2022–2023 (© PP · # 2833 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Im Laufe der mehr als eineinhalb Jahre, an denen ich am Video über Werk und Person des Künstlers Reimo Wukounig gearbeitet habe, besuchte ich ihn sicher mehr als 30 Mal in seiner Wohnung, habe oft lange Gespräche mit ihm geführt, die ich mit dem „Handy“ aufgezeichnet habe. Das Video „Der Schmerzraum des Zöglings 33“ (39 min.) hat am kommenden Dienstag, 23. Mai 2023 um 19 Uhr in der Secession Wien-Premiere, der Eintritt ist frei. (Werbeeinschaltung Ende). Unsere Gespräche fanden immer in der schmalen Küche statt, ich habe mich meist so hingesetzt, dass das einzige Fenster in meinem Rücken ist, damit das Licht für die Aufnahmen – ohne Stativ und ohne Aufnahmeteam – einigermaßen günstig ist. Reimo Wukounig habe ich 1974 kennengelernt, als ich an der Angewandten studierte und er Assistent beim Abendakt von Prof. Adolf Frohner war – also in gewissem Sinne habe ich bei ihm Zeichnen gelernt. In Pausen während der oft nicht leichten Gespräche habe ich ihn oft gezeichnet, meist schnelle Skizzen. Ich habe es mir zur Angewohnheit gemacht, die ersten Kommentare der von mir Portraitierten auf dem Blatt zu notieren – im Laufe der Jahre habe ich eine dicke Haut bekommen. Einen der besten Kommentare von Reimo W. fand ich: „Van Gogh hat auch nicht täglich Meisterwerk gemacht! Du hast einen expressiven Strich!“ (Donauspital, 21. 2. 2023, gr. Foto re.) oder: „Sehr gut! Schau’ ich nicht älter aus, als ich bin? Da ist der Van Gogh drübergegangen!“ (8. Jän. 2023). Und natürlich auch: „Mmmh – interessant! Jetzt werm’s aber lassen!“

Vienna | AT · 2022–2023 (© PP · # 2833 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) In the course of more than a year and a half that I worked on the video about the work and person of the artist Reimo Wukounig, I must have visited him more than 30 times in his apartment, I often had long conversations with him, which I recorded with my cell phone. The video “Der Painraum des Zöglings 33” (39 min.) has its premiere next Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 7 p.m. in the Vienna Secession, admission is free. (end of advertising). Our conversations always took place in the narrow kitchen, I usually sat down with the only window in my back so that the light for the recordings – without a tripod and without a recording team – was reasonably good. I met Reimo Wukounig in 1974 when I was studying at the University of Applied Sciences and he was an assistant in Prof. Adolf Frohner’s evening act – so in a certain sense I learned to draw from him. During breaks in the often not easy conversations I drew him, mostly quick sketches. I have made it a habit to jot down the first comments of those I portray on the sheet – over the years my skin has grown thick. I found one of Reimo W.’s best comments: “Van Gogh didn’t make masterpieces every day either! You have an expressive line!” (Donauspital, February 21, 2023, large photo right) or: “Very good! Don’t I look older than I am? That’s where Van Gogh walked over it!” (8 Jan 2023). And of course also: “Mmmh – interesting! Let’s leave it now!”
