So – jetzt ganz ruhig bleiben! Freeze Frame ∞ Film Still. Wo stellen wir uns hin? Da, beim Haus-Brunnen, zwei Sessel mitnehmen, vorm Hof. Vom Hintergrund (das ist einfach) her nehme ich an, dass diese Aufnahme wahrscheinlich nicht in Ebensee, dem Heimatort des Amateur-Photographen Johann Promberger entstand. Es scheint sich um einen stattlichen Hof, eher Vierkant-Hof gehandelt haben, schon in Oberösterreich, aber eher Richtung Gmunden, Vorchdorf vielleicht (Hinweise von Ortskundigen werden gerne angenommen) – es liegt nahe, dass es sich um ein Familenbild der Besitzer handelt. Der Vater im Hintergrund, die älteste Tochter rechts von ihm, drei jüngere Kinder an seiner Linken. Die beiden Frauen vorne? Es sind zwei Glasnegative dieser Gruppenaufnahme vorhanden – beide ident. Beide ident? Nein – natürlich nicht, aber fast. Ganz ganz feine Unterschiede – zB an der Handhaltung des ganz rechts stehenden Buben – der abgespreizte Dauemn. Was bemerkenswert ist: Der Fotograf musste zwischen beiden Aufnahmen die mit lichtempfindlicher Emulsion beschichtete Trockenplatte wechseln – ein Vorgang, der mehr Zeit in Anspruch nahm, als das schnelle Drücken des Auslöse-Buttons am Smartphone in Anspruch nahm. Die Personen scheinen völlig unbewegt, wie eingefroren. Freeze Frame. Ewig und 1 Tag.

Where do we stand? There, by the house fountain, take two armchairs with you, in front of the courtyard. From the background (that’s simple) I assume that this picture was probably not taken in Ebensee, the hometown of the amateur photographer Johann Promberger. It seems to have been a stately farm, more like a square farm, already in Upper Austria, but more in the direction of Gmunden, Vorchdorf perhaps (information from local people is gladly accepted) – it stands to reason that it is a family picture of the owners. The father in the background, the eldest daughter on his right, three younger children on his left. The two women in front? There are two glass negatives of this group picture – both identical. Both identical? No – of course not, but almost. Very, very subtle differences – for example in the hand position of the boy standing on the far right – the splayed length. What is remarkable: the photographer had to change the drying plate coated with light-sensitive emulsion between the two shots – a process that took more time than quickly pressing the shutter button on the smartphone. The people seem completely motionless, as if frozen. Freeze frame. Forever and 1 day.
