Sgraffiti im öffentlichen Raum. Nein: nicht Graffiti! Sgraffiti – mit „S“ vorne! Wien | AT · 2016 (© PP · # 3262 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Ich weiß, wovon ich rede bzw. schreibe: ich bin in Ebensee am Traunsee im Salzkammergut geboren und aufgewachsen – einer Gegend mit meinem Eindruck nach besonders vielen Wandgestaltungen dieser Art. Dabei werden mehrere (meist zwei oder drei) verschiedenfarbige, dünne Putzschichten auf die Wand aufgetragen und, wenn noch frisch, partiell abgeschabt, wobei das Sujet „freigelegt“ wird. Eine Technik, die insbesondere in den 1960-er und 1970-er Jahren vielfach angewendet wurde.

Obere Bildreihe: Sgraffiti am Eingang des Künstlerhaus-Kinos in Wien. Linkes Bild: Insgesamt sechs Personen, darunter ein Paar in augenscheinlich traditioneller Kleidung bei einer Pflanze, einen kleinen Baum, daneben ein dunkelhäutiger Mann mit erhobenem Speer, links unten eine Harlekin-Persona, in der Hand einen Sack, am Boden einige Murmeln, die ein Kind im Begriff ist, aufzuheben, rechts unten eine Person mit langen, gewellten Haaren an einer vermutlich metallverarbeitenden Maschine sitzend, in der Kiste eine Art Zahnräder., an der Vorderseite der Kiste beschriftet mit L. SCHMID 94

Rechtes Bild: oben zwei zueinander gewandte Personen, möglicherweise Schauspieler, daneben eine Person mit langen Haaren in Ritterrüstung, daran zwei an Brustscheiben, mittig dazwischen eine stilisierte Lilie. Eine Frau, ein Mann? Jedenfalls mit einer Gloriole um den Kopf, die an einen Raumfahrerhelm denken lässt. Darunter eine Clown-Figur, daneben ein Mann mit Hut und geschultertem Rucksack.

Untere Bildreihe: Ein Sgraffito oberhalb des Einganges zu einem Gemeindebau an der Troststraße 68–70 im 10. Bezirk, „Erbaut von der Gemeinde Wien in den Jahren 1925 und 1926 aus den Mitteln der Wohnbausteuer“. Das Sgraffito in drei verschiedenen Rotbraun-/Ocker-Tönen gehalten, zeigt vier Personen, drei Männer, eine Frau, bei der Arbeit. In der Mitte eröffnet sich der Blick auf eine Fabrik vor einer Hügel-/Berg-Landschaft.

Vienna | AT – 2016 (© PP – # 3262 – www.ewigesarchiv.at) I know what I’m talking and writing about: I was born and grew up in Ebensee am Traunsee in the Salzkammergut – an area with, in my opinion, a particularly large number of murals of this kind. Several (usually two or three) thin layers of plaster of different colors are applied to the wall and, when still fresh, partially scraped off, “exposing” the subject. This technique was widely used in the 1960s and 1970s in particular.

A woman, a man? In any case with a gloriole around his head, reminiscent of a spaceman’s helmet. Below it is a clown figure, next to it a man with a hat and shouldered rucksack.
Bottom row: A sgraffito above the entrance to a municipal building at Troststraße 68-70 in the 10th district, “Built by the municipality of Vienna in 1925 and 1926 from the funds of the housing tax”. The sgraffito in three different shades of reddish brown/ochre shows four people, three men and one woman, at work. In the center is a view of a factory in front of a hilly/mountainous landscape.
