Wien | AT · 2021–2025 (© Hubert Burda Media; © Funke Mediengruppe; Zitat-Repros © PP; Location © PP · # 3534 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Ich lebe ja in einem selbst zusammengeschusterten parawissenschaftlichen Experiment, das ich Ewiges Archiv nenne: „Kann ich durch einigermaßen präzise persönliche Beobachtungen des „Spektakulär Unspektakulären“ zumindest fragmentarisch Erkenntnis über meine Existenz in einer als weitgehend chaotisch, enigmatisch und hermetisch wahrgenommenen Umwelt gewinnen?“ Ich bin umgeben von Freund*innen und Bekannten, die dicke Ausgaben der „Zeit“, der NZZ, der Süddeutschen, der Kleinen Zeitung, des FALTER, Standard, auch natürlich der sogenannten „Österreich“-Zeitung lückenlos lesen, die parallel wesentliche TV-Programme sehen, hardcore Dokumentationen streamen. Ich selbst vermeide beim Anstellen an der Supermarkt-Kasse diejenige Linie, die nahe bei den Illustrierten und Zeitungen vorbeiführt. Ich bin nicht stolz über meine Medien-Ignoranz, denn ich habe ja auch meine Informationsquellen. An hohen und höchsten Feiertagen, manchmal an Sonntagen, gönne ich mir einen Kleinen Braunen in der Konditorei Groissböck („Die besten Krapfen Wiens“), aber nur dann, wenn ich beim beiläufigen Durchblättern des aufliegenden Illustrierten-Stapels die aktuellen Lesezirkel-Ausgaben der „BUNTE“ bzw (zweitrangig) der „Gala“ sehe. Gestern eine Sternstunde: Zumindest kurze Zeit blieb der Atem weg: Beide Illustrierte hatten das IDENTE Foto von Jeff Bezos und Lauren Sánchez-Bezos am Cover! Ist das nicht wahnsinnig gut? Ist das nicht eine wirkliche Super-Sensation? Von sicher hunderttausenden Fotos, die von der abgefahrenen Lumpenhochzeit in Venedig gemacht wurden, wurde das gleiche Pix ausgewählt! Rechte Seite: Vor einigen Jahren bin ich mit dem Fahrrad zum Zentralllager von amazon am Rande von Simmering gefahren. Natürlich stimmt, was Bertolt Brecht konstatierte: „Die Fotografie einer Fabrik sagt noch nichts über das Wesen einer Fabrik aus.“ Trotzdem. So schaut’s aus.
Ich selbst habe vor mittlerweile mehr als 10 Jahren ein WACOM-Tablet bei amazon bestellt, das in Wien nicht zu finden war – seither nichts mehr. So war’s, ich schwör’s!

Vienna | AT · 2021–2025 (© Hubert Burda Media; © Funke Mediengruppe; quote reproductions © PP; location © PP · # 3534 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) I live in a self-cobbled together para-scientific experiment that I call the Eternal Archive: ‘Can I gain at least fragmentary insight into my existence in an environment that is perceived as largely chaotic, enigmatic and hermetic through reasonably precise personal observations of the “spectacularly unspectacular”?’ I am surrounded by friends and acquaintances who read thick issues of Die Zeit, the NZZ, the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the Kleine Zeitung, the FALTER, the Standard, and of course the so-called Österreich newspaper from cover to cover, while at the same time watching essential TV programmes and streaming hardcore documentaries. When queuing at the supermarket checkout, I avoid the line that passes close to the magazines and newspapers. I am not proud of my media ignorance, because I also have my sources of information. On high and highest holidays, sometimes on Sundays, I treat myself to a Kleiner Brauner at the Groissböck pastry shop (‘The best doughnuts in Vienna’), but only if, while casually leafing through the stack of magazines on display, I see the current issues of ‘BUNTE’ or (secondarily) ‘Gala’. Yesterday was a momentous occasion: at least for a short time, I was breathless: both magazines had the IDENTICAL photo of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez-Bezos on the cover! Isn’t that incredibly good? Isn’t that a real sensation? Out of surely hundreds of thousands of photos taken of the crazy rag wedding in Venice, the same picture was chosen! Captions below.
Right side: A few years ago, I rode my bike to Amazon’s central warehouse on the outskirts of Simmering. Of course, Bertolt Brecht was right when he said, ‘A photograph of a factory says nothing about the nature of a factory.’ Nevertheless. That’s how it looks.
