Der Schnitt durch das Auge und ein andalusischer Hund. Paris | FR; Wien | AT · 1929–2021 (Filmstills © Luis Buñuel & Salvador Dalí estate · © PP · # 2359 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Es war in den 1970-er Jahren, als ich das erste Mal den Film „Un chien andalou“ (Ein andalusischer Hund) von Luis Buñuel und Salvador Dalí aus dem Jahr 1929 im Filmmuseum sah. Unvergessen insbesondere die Eröffnungsszene, in der einer jungen Frau mit einem Rasiermesser das Auge durchschnitten wird. Auch heute, beim wiederholten Bild-für-Bild-Betrachten dieser Szene (link s. u.) konnte ich sie nur schwer anschauen – insbesondere die Bilder, die auf die hier gezeigten folgen. Für den Dreh des Schnitts durch das Auge wurde ein Kuhauge benutzt, welches stark überbelichtet wurde, so dass das Kuhfell wie die weiche Haut des Mädchens erschien.

Ein andalusischer Hund (Originaltitel: Un chien andalou, spanischer Titel: Un perro andaluz) ist ein Kurzfilm von Luis Buñuel und Salvador Dalí, der zum ersten Mal 1929 in Paris vorgeführt wurde. Er gilt als Meisterwerk des surrealistischen Films.

Paris | FRI; Vienna | AT 1929–2021 (Film stills © Luis Buñuel & Salvador Dalí estate © PP # 2359 www.ewigesarchiv.at) It was in the 1970s that I first saw the film Un chien andalou (Ein Andalusian Dog) by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí from 1929 at the Film Museum. The opening scene, in which a young woman’s eye is cut through with a razor, is particularly unforgettable. Even today, when viewing this scene repeatedly frame by frame (see link below), I found it difficult to look at it – especially the images that follow the ones shown here. A cow’s eye was used to shoot the cut through the eye, which was heavily overexposed so that the cowhide appeared like the girl’s soft skin.

An Andalusian Dog (original title: Un chien andalou, Spanish title: Un perro andaluz) is a short film by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí, which was first shown in Paris in 1929. It is considered a masterpiece of surrealist film.
