Schmerzraum und Paradies: Filme konzipieren, realisieren, finanzieren und sie bewerben: Nicht unanstrengend. Wien | AT · 2024 (© PP · # 3066 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Werbeeinschaltung: Zwei meiner Filme werden in einem „Doublefeature“ am Di., 20. Feb. 2024 um 20 Uhr im Stadtkino im Künstlerhaus gezeigt im Rahmen des FREIEN KINOs der Künstlerhaus Vereinigung. Eintritt ist frei. Darüber freue ich mich wirklich sehr – insbesondere auch deshalb, weil dann die beiden Filme auf die große Leinwand eines der schönsten Kinos von Wien projiziert werden. Aber es ist ein sehr langer Weg, bis ein völlig unabhängig produzierter Film in dieser Art, wie ich sie seit vielen Jahren mache, überhaupt gesehen, wahrgenommen wird und in seltenen Fällen ins Kino kommt. Ich habe 1977 während eines Studienjahres in Poznan/Polen begonnen, Animationsfilme zu machen, habe anschließend eine ganze Reihe von sogenannten „Trickfilme“ realisiert, war 1988/89 artist in residence am Animationfilm-Department der Concordia University in Montréal | CA und ab Anfang der 1990-er Jahre im Digitalstudio des ORF einige Jahre „Signations“ (animierte Titel-Vorspänne) für das Kinderprogramm des ORF realisiert. Später wandte ich mich dann mehr dem Dokumentarfilm zu – nicht, weil ich das Interesse am Animationsfilm verloren hätte, sondern weil ich diese als Erweiterung meines Lebensprojektes Ewiges Archiv sehe: Eine dynamische Enzyklopädie zeitgenössischer Realitäten. Diese Art von völlig unabhängig konzipierten und ohne Filmproduktion und große Filmförderung realisierten Dokumentarfilmen ist nur möglich durch die Zusammenarbeit mit vielen Menschen, die mich dabei unterstützen und die mittlerweile zu zahlreich sind, sie hier anzuführen. Ich danke ihnen allen von ganzem Herzen.

Cornelius Kolig führt durchs Paradies (2022, 26:22 min)
Das „Paradies“ ist ein etwa 5.000 m2 großes Areal in Vorderberg im Gailtal in Kärnten, dem Geburtsort des Künstlers Cornelius Kolig (1942–2022), auf dem ab 1979 Gebäude und Gartenelemente für die darin versammelten Objekte und Installationen entstanden sind. Der Film dokumentiert eine authentische Führung durch diese umfangreiche Anlage.

„Reimo Wukounig · Der Schmerzraum des Zöglings 33“ (2023, 39 min)
Das Video zum 80. Geburtstag des Künstlers Reimo Wukounig dokumentiert seine künstlerische Entwicklung und stellt auch die Einflüsse aus seinen Erfahrungen als Zögling in Kärntner Heimen dar, die er nahezu durchgehend in seinem umfangreichen Werk thematisierte.

Pain space and paradise: Conceiving, realising, financing and promoting films: Not without effort. Vienna | AT – 2024 (© PP – # 3066 – www.ewigesarchiv.at) Advertising insert: Two of my films will be shown in a “double feature” on Tue, 20 Feb. 2024 at 8 pm in the Stadtkino im Künstlerhaus as part of the FREE CINEMA of the Künstlerhaus Vereinigung. Admission is free. I’m really looking forward to it – especially because the two films will be projected onto the big screen of one of Vienna’s most beautiful cinemas. But it’s a very long way before a completely independently produced film of the kind I’ve been making for many years is even seen, noticed and, in rare cases, shown in cinemas. I started making animated films in 1977 during a year of study in Poznan/Poland, then realised a whole series of so-called “animated films”, was artist in residence at the Animation Film Department of Concordia University in Montréal | CA in 1988/89 and from the beginning of the 1990s realised “Signations” (animated title credits) for the ORF children’s programme in the ORF digital studio for several years. Later I turned more to documentary film – not because I had lost interest in animated film, but because I see it as an extension of my life project Eternal Archive: a dynamic encyclopaedia of contemporary realities. This type of documentary, conceived completely independently and realised without film production or major film funding, is only possible thanks to the collaboration of many people who support me in this endeavour and who are now too numerous to mention here. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart.

Cornelius Kolig leads us through paradise (2022, 26:22 min)
Paradise” is an area of around 5,000 square metres in Vorderberg in the Gailtal valley in Carinthia, the birthplace of artist Cornelius Kolig (1942-2022), on which buildings and garden elements for the objects and installations assembled there were created from 1979 onwards. The film documents an authentic guided tour of this extensive site.

“Reimo Wukounig – The pain room of the pupil 33” (2023, 39 min)
The video for the 80th birthday of the artist Reimo Wukounig documents his artistic development and also presents the influences from his experiences as a pupil in Carinthian homes, which he thematised almost continuously in his extensive work.
