September 2019, wurde im Filmmuseum Wien der Film „Pull my Daisy“ von Robert Frank gezeigt – ich hatte mir die Vorführung aus der Reihe „Was ist Film“ um 19 Uhr angeschau – aber nicht die folgende um 21 Uhr mit dem oben erwähnten Film, was ich sehr bedaure:

Robert Frank ist am 9. September 2019 verstorben.

„Robert Frank (* 9. November 1924 in Zürich, Schweiz, † 9. September 2019 in Inverness, Nova Scotia, Kanada) war ein schweizerisch-US-amerikanischer Fotograf, Filmregisseur und Kameramann. Mit seinem Fotobuch The Americans (1958) revolutionierte Frank die Ästhetik des Fotobuchs, es zählt daher zu den einflussreichsten Fotobänden des 20. Jahrhunderts. Ein Jahr darauf erweiterte Frank diesen Stil auf Dokumentarfilme, was auch als der Beginn des independent film gilt. Später folgten experimentelle Fotomontagen. Frank hat nach Juri Steiner „einen völlig eigenständigen, subjektiven und sozialkritischen Stil einer poetisch-dokumentarischen Fotografie entwickelt, die die Amerikaner als «snapshot aesthetic» bezeichnen.“^(wiki)
