Prater Corona Lockdown

„Im Prater blüh'n wieder die Bäume, denn Frühling ist wieder in Wien!“ Splendid Isolation_47 Wien | AT · 2020 (© PP · Ewiges Archiv) „Prater“ heißt für mich immer: DER Prater – niemals „Wurstelprater“ (ein selten bescheuertes Wort), hat auch nichts zu tun mit den Prater-Auen und Wiesen, nichts mit Jesuitenwiese (die ist mit den Ausfahrten mit dem Kinderwagen und dem Volksstimme-Fest assoziiert) – also immer der Prater mit Riesenrad und den „Fahrgeschäften“. Das ist so und wird bis ans Ende meines Lebens so bleiben. Ich habe den Prater von klein auf geliebt, ob ich zur Firmung im Prater war, weiß ich nicht mehr, sicher aber Besuch kleingruppenweise im Rahmen der Aktion „Österreichs Landjugend lernt die Bundeshauptstadt kennen“, sicher Sexmuseum (wenn ich doch die paar SW-Fotos von damals finden würde!!!), sicher das kleine Varieté mit keuschem, schnellem Striptease und dem Kettensprenger Charles de Kiesewarth (von Letzterem gibt’s Aufnahmen, auch ein Tableau im Ewigen Archiv, klar). Im Prater hab ich beim Hütchenspiel meine Armbanduhr in Sekunden verspielt und um ein Haar die Rolleiflex meines Vaters, bei einem Ausflug mit der WG musste die Rettung gerufen werden, weil ein Kommunarde nach einem virtuellen Schießduell Herzflimmern bekam, mir wurde die Geldtasche gestohlen und ich wurde mit Bauchstich bedroht. Mein auf dem Fahrrad-Sitz festgeschnallter Sohn fiel mitsamt dem Fahrrad um, weil ich Trottel das Rad und ihn droben abgestellt hatte, um den Walfisch zu fotografieren (AKH-Ambulanz und Schädelröntgen – aber zum großen Glück alles ok.) Den erwähnten Sohn viel zu früh + zu heftig in die Wunderlichkeiten des Praters einführen wollen, der interessierte sich in Folge nicht mehr die Bohne. Die Veränderungen im Prater seit fast 50 Jahren fotografiert und also etwas dokumentiert. In der Datenbank des Ewigen Archivs scheinen unter dem Schlagwort „Prater“ 2438 Einträge auf – zusätzlich dann noch Einträge zu: Lusthaus Prater; Prater-Hauptallee, Prater-Vorplatz (das wahre Grauen!), Praterbrücke, Pratersauna. Praterstern. Ein eigenes Department ist selbstverständlich dem Böhmischen Prater gewidmet – 726 Einträge.

Die mehr als 350 Fotos bei der Kontroll- und Prüffahrt am 1. Mai 2020 im Rahmen der „Corona-Lockdown-Tour“ fallen dann nicht mehr wirklich ins Gewicht – die Auswahl dieses einfachen Tableaus hier war etwas langwierig, weil sich so viele Parallelen, Querbezüge, Vergleiche anboten. Also: KISS – Keep it Simple, Stupid!

“The trees are blooming again in the Prater, because spring is back in Vienna!” Splendid Isolation_47 Vienna | AT · 2020 (© PP · Eternal Archives) For me, “Prater” always means: THE Prater – never “Wurstelprater” (a rarely stupid word), has nothing to do with the Prater meadows and meadows, nothing with the Jesuit meadow (the is associated with the trips with the pram and the Volksstimme festival) – always the Prater with the Ferris wheel and the “rides”. It is so and will remain so until the end of my life. I loved the Prater from an early age, I no longer know whether I was in the Prater for confirmation, but certainly visiting in small groups as part of the campaign “Austria’s rural youth gets to know the federal capital”, certainly Sexmuseum (if I did the few SW photos from that time !!!), the small variety with chaste, fast striptease and the chain sprinkler Charles de Kiesewarth (there are recordings of the latter, also a tableau in the Eternal Archive, of course). In the Prater, I lost my wristwatch in seconds while playing the little hat and my father’s Rolleiflex, for an outing with the flat-share, the rescue had to be called because a commune got heart flickering after a virtual shooting duel, my wallet was stolen and I became threatened with belly stitch. My son, who was strapped to the bicycle seat, and the bicycle fell over because I had put the fool down on the bike and him up there to take pictures of the whale (AKH ambulance and cranial X-ray – but fortunately everything was ok.) The son mentioned much to the want to introduce early + too vigorously into the wonder of the Prater, he was no longer interested in the bean. The changes in the Prater have been photographed for almost 50 years and therefore somewhat documented. In the database of the Eternal Archive, 2438 entries appear under the keyword “Prater” – in addition there are also entries for: Lusthaus Prater; Prater main avenue, Prater forecourt (the real horror!), Prater bridge, Prater sauna. Praterstern. A separate department is of course dedicated to the Bohemian Prater – 726 entries.
The more than 350 photos during the inspection and test drive on May 1, 2020 as part of the “Corona Lockdown Tour” are no longer significant – the selection of this simple tableau here was a bit tedious because there are so many parallels, Cross references, offer comparisons. So: KISS – Keep it Simple, Stupid!
