Die Politik des offenen Ohrs: von abgeschnittenen, implantierten und aufgebauten Hörorganen. Faak am See, Grasberg, Gut Gasteil, Linz, Wien | AT · 2000–2020 (© PP · Ewiges Archiv) Heute früh, kurz vor sechs hörte ich überraschend eine undeutliche weibliche Stimme neben meinem Arbeitsplatz. Es waren keine Audiogeräte eingeschalten, den Live-DJ-Mix hatte ich kurz vorher entnervt abgedreht. Des Rätsels Lösung kam per E-Mail, die automatisierte Nachricht meines Servers: Speicherplatz wird knapp ("DataVol1" has reached the space alert threshold of "80%". Free space: 1.42 TB.) Ich hatte vergessen, dass der Server in Notfällen sprechen kann. Hört er mich? Hat er ein verstecktes Ohr? Hello Server, can you hear me? Hello Major Tom??

Bleibt immer die „Politik des offenen Ohrs“: Linkes Ohr auf, rechtes Ohr auf und Durchzug!

Das berühmteste Ohr dürfte vermutlich das sein, das sich Vincent van Gogh abgeschnitten hat. „Am 23. Oktober traf Gauguin in Arles ein; schon wenig später war die Beziehung der beiden schwierigen Charaktere von Konflikten belastet. Das Zusammenleben endete genau zwei Monate später mit einem nie völlig geklärten Vorfall, in dessen Verlauf van Gogh sich nach einem Streit mit Gauguin einen großen Teil seines linken Ohres abgeschnitten haben soll, wie Paul Gauguin berichtete. Dieser kommt allerdings auch selbst als Täter in Betracht. Man fand van Gogh am nächsten Morgen, bewusstlos und geschwächt vom Blutverlust. Die Arteria auricularis posterior wurde nach Vincents Brief vom 7./8. Januar 1889 durchtrennt, welches den beträchtlichen Blutverlust zur Folge hatte..“ (wiki)

Ein weiteres bemerkenswertes Ohr-Artefakt hat der Künstler Stelarc Stelarc produziert, der aus eigenen Körperzellen ein Ohr formen und sich in den linken Unterarm chirurgisch einsetzen ließ (gr. Foto rechts und darunter): „Stelarc (eigentlich Stelios Arcadiou; * 1946 in Limassol) ist ein zypriotisch-australischer Medien- und Performance-Künstler. Stelarc setzt sich schon seit rund 30 Jahren mit dem Verhältnis Mensch und Maschine auseinander. Seine Performances und Interfaces fokussieren den menschlichen Körper und die Beziehung zur Technologie. Er experimentiert mit Prothetik, Robotik, Virtual Reality Systemen und auch mit dem Internet. „Scale Ear“ soll ein drittes Ohr am Arm des Künstlers entstehen lassen. Aus menschlichen Zellen wird diese weiche Prothese gezüchtet. Eine partielle Lebensform könnte so in den Körper integriert werden und somit seine Ganzheit in Frage stellen. Dieses Ohr sollte selbst nicht hören können, sondern im Gegensatz Töne erzeugen.“ (wiki)

There is always the “open ear policy”: left ear open, right ear open and pulling through!
The most famous ear is probably the one that Vincent van Gogh cut off. “On October 23, Gauguin arrived in Arles; A short time later, the relationship between the two difficult characters was strained by conflict. Another remarkable ear artifact was produced by the artist Stelarc Stelarc, who formed an ear from his own body cells and had it surgically inserted into the left forearm (large photo on the right and below): “Stelarc (actually Stelios Arcadiou; * 1946 in Limassol) is a Cypriot-Australian media and performance artist. Stelarc has been dealing with the relationship between man and machine for around 30 years. His performances and interfaces focus on the human body and its relationship to technology. He experiments with prosthetics, robotics, virtual reality systems and also with the Internet. “Scale Ear” is intended to create a third ear on the artist’s arm. This soft prosthesis is grown from human cells. A partial way of life could be integrated into the body and thus question its wholeness. This ear should not be able to hear itself, but should produce sounds in contrast. ”(Wiki)
