ÖNB Prunksaal: Videoaufnahmen

Wien | AT · 2018 (© PP · Ewiges Archiv) Für das in Arbeit befindliche Videoprojekt „Das Ewige Archiv“ war es mir möglich, mit Frau Generaldirektorin Dr.in Johanna Rachinger (Foto re. ob.) in der ÖNB ein Gespräch zu führen zu den Themen: Was ist der Leitgedanke einer Sammlung wie der ÖNB? Wer bestimmt, was gesammelt und aufbewahrt wird? Kann Sammeln von Büchern öffentliches Bewusstsein beeinflussen? Probleme der Digitalisierung. Selbstverständlich war auch die Zusammenarbeit der ÖNB mit google Thema des Gesprächs – in den vergangenen 6 Jahren wurden von rund 600.000 historischen Büchern HiRes-Scans gemacht, dh. Faksimiles dieser Bücher sind auf der Website der ÖNB abrufbar und damit weltweit zugänglich – und aufgrund der Vereinbarung auch auf den Seiten von google.books.

Ich möchte mich auch an dieser Stelle herzlich für die Bereitschaft zum Gespräch und für die Ermöglichung der Videoaufnahmen bei der Direktion der Österreichischen Nationalbibliothek bedanken.

Ich hätte das Interview mit Dr. Rachinger gerne im Prunksaal der ÖNB aufgezeichnet – dies war nicht möglich, allerdings wurde mir und dem kleinen Team – Kamera und Ton Thomas Holzinger (Foto re. unt.) – erlaubt, im Prunksaal der ÖNB einige Aufnahmen zu machen.

Die Direktion, Verwaltung und der Prunksaal sind nicht am Heldenplatz – dort sind die Lesesäle der ÖNB – sondern am Josefsplatz (ob. Reihe Mitte).

Wer trägt jetzt wirklich das Gewicht der Welt?

Vienna | AT · 2018 (© PP · Ewiges Archiv) For the video project “The Eternal Archive”, which was in progress, I was able to have a conversation with the Director-General Dr.in Johanna Rachinger (photo right) at the ÖNB Topics: What is the guiding principle of a collection like the ÖNB? Who determines what is collected and stored? Can collecting books influence public awareness? Problems of digitization. Of course, the cooperation of the ÖNB with google was the topic of the conversation – in the past 6 years, around 600,000 historical books were used for HiRes scans, ie. Facsimiles of these books are available on the website of the ÖNB and thus accessible worldwide – and due to the agreement on the pages of google.books.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for the willingness to talk and for the video footage at the Directorate of the Austrian National Library.
I would have had the interview with Dr. Rachinger was happy to be recorded in the ÖBB Prunksaal – this was not possible, but I and the small team – camera and sound Thomas Holzinger (photo re. Unt.) – were allowed to take some shots in the grandstand of the ÖNB.
The directorate, administration and the state premise hall are not on Heroes’ Square – there are the reading rooms of the ÖNB – but on Josefsplatz (whether in the middle row).
Who really carries the weight of the world now?
