Meine Freunde, die Flamingos und eine Erinnerung an den Maler Wolfgang Egger (1951–1991) Amsterdam | NL; Linz, Wien | AT; Montreal | CA; Poznan | PL · 1978–2021 (© PP · # 2270 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Das Bild links oben, das einen bärtigen Mann zeigt, der seinen Arm um einen Flamingo gelegt hatte, ist ein Portrait, das der Maler Wolfgang Egger von mir im Jahr 1978 in Poznan/Polen gemalt hat. Während ich ein Repro davon machte, fragte ich mich, wie er auf die Idee gekommen war, mir einen Flamingo beiseite zu stellen – ich glaube mich zu erinnern, dass ich einen Plastikflamingo gefunden hatte, den ich in meinem Zimmer aufgestellt und gezeichnet hatte – sicher bin ich mir nicht, aber Flamingos in Plastik haben mich immer wieder beschäftigt, sie „spielen“ in einem meiner Filme mit („Mont Real“) und vor einigen Jahren habe ich eine größere Anzahl wirklicher Flamingos in einem Freigehege des Amsterdamer Zoos „Artis“ gesehen und fotografiert (re. unt.). Dieses Ölbild hatte mir Wolfgang am Ende eines gemeinsam verbrachten Studienjahres an der Kunst-Akademie in Poznan/Polen geschenkt – er hatte es „Peter mit der goldenen Hand und sein rosaroter Freund“ betitelt – die Schuh-Metamorphosen waren eine Anspielung auf meinen ersten Animationsfilm „OBUWIE“, ich hatte damals kurze Haare, einen Bart und meistens einen „goldenen“ Stern angesteckt – eine Auszeichnung für Kleintierzüchter, die ich irgendwo gekauft hatte.

While I was making a repro of it, I wondered how he had come up with the idea of putting a flamingo aside for me – I think I remember finding a plastic flamingo that I had set up and drawn in my room – sure I’m not, but plastic flamingos have occupied me again and again, they “play” in one of my films (“Mont Real”) and a few years ago I saw a large number of real flamingos in an outdoor enclosure at the Amsterdam zoo “Artis” seen and photographed (bottom right). Wolfgang had given me this oil painting at the end of a year spent studying together at the Art Academy in Poznan / Poland – he had titled it “Peter with the golden hand and his pink friend” – the shoe metamorphoses were an allusion to my first animation film “ OBUWIE ”, at the time I had short hair, a beard and mostly a“ gold ”star – an award for small animal breeders that I had bought somewhere.
