Männlein steh’n im Walde ganz still und stumm. Wir begrüßen die Neuzugänge auf das Allerherzlichste! Eine Referenz an die Phallokratie, schaler Schatten längst vergang’ner Herrlichkeit! Bratislava | SK; Brugg | CH; Primošten | HR; Klagenfurt/Celovec, Villach, Wien | AT · 2023 (Fotos © Sonja Gasparin, PP; Tableau © PP · # 3026 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Hydranten sind seit Jahrzehnten ein Schwerpunkt-Thema des verdienstvollen Ewigen Archivs. Ich kann mich sehr gut daran erinnern, wie ich 1995 mit der Fähre nach Long Island – das ist die, bei der man/frau bei der Statue of Liberty (ein Geschenk Frankreichs an die USA) vorbeikommt – fuhr und dort eine Fülle ganz wunderbarer Hydrants angetroffen habe, die mich schon sehnlichst erwartet hatten. Was für einen vergnüglicher Nachmittag verbrachten wir doch dort gemeinsam! Unvergessen auch der eine in Montréal 1988, ganz rot, leicht schief inmitten der Wiese tehend und vor sich hin sinnend! Egal, jetzt nicht in romantische Schwärmereien verfallen – ich bitte nun einige bemerkenswerte Vertreter (sic!) ihrer Spezies vor den Vorhang – traditionell noch vor dem (im Rückblick) überraschend schnell sich nähernden Jahresende. Der Direktor des Ewigen Archives dankt wieder einmal besonders Architektin Sonja Gasparin für ihre unermüdliche Sammel- und Beitragstätigkeit!

Hydranten gehören zu den Liebkindern des einsamen Sammlers, sie sind nicht nur ein Symbol der Nachhaltigkeit und Nützlichkeit, sondern auch Trostspender in Stunden, in welchen die Sinnhaftigkeit des Gesamtprojektes wieder einmal ponderiert wird.

I remember very well how in 1995 I travelled by ferry to Long Island – that’s the one where you pass the Statue of Liberty (a gift from France to the USA) – and encountered an abundance of wonderful hydrants that had been eagerly awaiting me. What an enjoyable afternoon we spent there together! I’ll never forget the one in Montréal in 1988, all red, standing slightly askew in the middle of the meadow and musing to himself! Anyway, let’s not get carried away with romantic rhapsodies – I now invite some remarkable representatives (sic!) of their species in front of the curtain – traditionally before the (in retrospect) surprisingly fast approaching end of the year. Once again, the director of the Eternal Archive would like to thank architect Sonja Gasparin in particular for her tireless collecting and contributing activities!
Hydrants are among the favourite children of the lonely collector, they are not only a symbol of sustainability and usefulness, but also a source of comfort in hours when the meaningfulness of the overall project is once again pondered.
