Wenn ich in den Spiegel schaue, blickt mir ein alter Mann entgegen. 1954–2021 (© PP · Ewiges Archiv; SW-Portrait rechts: © Rene Huemer) Vor einigen Jahren habe ich mir überlegt, wie Fotografie „Leben dokumentiert bzw. begleitet“ – zumindest in der Region, in der ich lebe. Ich habe praktischerweise mich als Testsubjekt genommen, weil ich zum Einen am besten Zugriff auf die Fotodokumente hatte und zum Anderen das Einverständnis zur Veröffentlichung leichter klären konnte – sozusagen auf kurzem Wege. Vor einigen Tagen fragte mich der Fotograf René Huemer, der sich intensiv mit historischen Fototechniken beschäftigt, ob ich für ein Probefoto Zeit hätte, er wollte ein „Kollodium-Nassplatten-Portrait“ machen. Ich hatte Zeit und wollte – das Ergebnis ist rechts zu sehen, ich habe dem einige wenige Fotos aus dem oben erwähnten Versuch gegenübergestellt. Ein „timelapse-Tableau“ – also einige Fragmente eines Lebens wie im Zeitraffer zusammengefasst, kurze Lichtblicke. Eine Möglichkeit, die Veränderungen des eigenen Gesichtes, des Körpers vergleichen zu können . . . (usw. usw.) Dem eigenen Leben und der eigenen Veränderung ins Auge blicken. Es tut nicht weh – aber es ist ein Moment der Wahrheit.

I practically took myself as the test subject because, on the one hand, I had the best access to the photo documents and, on the other hand, it was easier to clarify the consent to publication – in a short way, so to speak. A few days ago the photographer René Huemer, who is intensively involved with historical photo techniques, asked me whether I had time for a test photo, he wanted to make a “collodion wet plate portrait”. I had time and wanted to – the result is shown on the right; I have compared a few photos from the experiment mentioned above. A “timelapse tableau” – that is, some fragments of a life as if summarized in time lapse, brief rays of light. An opportunity to compare the changes in your own face and body. . . (etc. etc.) Face your own life and change. It doesn’t hurt – but it’s a moment of truth.
