KPÖ-Kundgebung vor dem Parlament zum Ersten Mai. Wien | AT · 1973 (© PP · Ewiges Archiv). Vor 47 Jahren fotografierte ich erstmals Aufmärsche, Kundgebungen und Demonstrationen zum Ersten Mai, „der als Tag der Arbeit, Tag der Arbeiterbewegung, Internationaler Kampftag der Arbeiterklasse oder auch als Maifeiertag bezeichnet wird.“ (wiki) Siehe auch Tableau „Aufmarsch der SPÖ und Kundgebung auf dem Rathausplatz“) Die Kommunistische Partei Österreichs (KPÖ) hielt jedes Jahr zum 1. Mai vor dem Parlament eine Kundgebung ab, parallel zur ungleich größeren Veranstaltung der SPÖ am in der Nähe liegenden Rathausplatz.

Zu den Fotos: Die Tribüne vor dem Parlament, am Mikrophon der langjährige KPÖ-Vorsitzende Franz Muhri, im Hintergrund der Schriftzug „GEGEN KAPITAL UND REAKTION“, oberhalb das Symbol der Kommunisten Hammer und Sichel und die rot-weiß-rote Fahne. Darunter: Zuschauer*innen und Teilnehmer*innen der Kundgebung; Ein Mann, der fortwährend in eine Art Diktaphon sprach, meiner Interpretation nach möglicherweise ein Staatspolizist; ganz rechts der Abbau des Hammer- und Sichel-Symbols nach Ende der Kundgebung.

Die Kommunistische Partei Österreichs (KPÖ) wurde 1918 als Kommunistische Partei Deutsch-Österreichs (KPDÖ) gegründet und ist somit eine der ältesten kommunistischen Parteien der Welt. Die KPÖ war von 1945 bis 1959 im Nationalrat und bis 1970 in mehreren Landtagen vertreten. 1949 trat sie zur Wahl unter der Bezeichnung Kommunistische Partei Österreichs und Linkssozialisten (KLS) an. Seit 2005 ist die KPÖ wieder im Landtag der Steiermark vertreten. Bundessprecher waren 2006 bis 2012 als Doppelspitze Melina Klaus und Mirko Messner, seit 2012 ist es Mirko Messner allein. Die KPÖ ist Teil der Europäische Linken.

The Austrian Communist Party (KPÖ) was founded in 1918 as the German-Austrian Communist Party (KPDÖ), making it one of the oldest communist parties in the world. The KPÖ was represented in the National Council from 1945 to 1959 and in several state parliaments until 1970. In 1949 she stood for election under the name of the Communist Party of Austria and the Left Socialists (KLS). The KPÖ has been represented in the Styrian state parliament since 2005. Federal speakers were Melina Klaus and Mirko Messner from 2006 to 2012, since 2012 it has been Mirko Messner alone. The KPÖ is part of the European left.
