Kostbare Körper: Samariterdienst mit spez. Berücksichtigung der Verhältnisse im Hochgebirge und in aktuellen Kriegsgebieten. XX | AT · 1980er (© PP · # 3004 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Konzipiert und möglicherweise auch visualisiert von Dr. Oskar Bernhard, Samaden, erschienen im Verlag von Simon Tanner, Samaden, Lithographie & Druck von J.J. Sigg, Winterthur – das ist den Beschriftungen der insgesamt 17 Bildtafeln zu entnehmen, die Anfang der 1980-er gestapelt vor der Tür des Biologie-Kabinetts eines Gymnasiums lagen, an dem ich einige Jahre Bildnerische Erziehung und Werkerziehung unterrichtete. „Was macht’s Ihr mit denen?“ fragte ich einen Kollegen, der Biologie unterrichtete. „Ach – die kommen weg!“ (So in etwa, an den genauen Wortlaut kann ich mich nicht mehr erinnern). „Verstehe! Ich geh grad runter und könnte sie dann gleich in den Container schmeißen!“ Gesagt getan, ich packte diesen Stapel und einen weiteren, mit etwa 200 Stück A4 großen, wunderbaren Farblithographien von Tieren und verfrachtete alle Bildtafeln in mein Auto. Als ich Ende der 1990-er Jahre in einer finanziellen Krise war, verkaufte ich die rund 50 cm x 65 cm großen Tafeln mit den Hinweisen zum Verhalten bei Bergunfällen an eine auf Schiunfälle spezialisierte Klinik im Westen Österreichs, die Tafeln mit den Tier-Illustrationen lagern in Sichtweite. Großartige Arbeiten allesamt.

Was ich aber immer noch nicht verstehe: Wie ist es möglich, dass im Jahr 2023, also genau jetzt, genau in dieser Stunde, Menschen sich zerschießen, zerbomben, zerfetzen? Ist eine Frage, auf die ich keine Antwort habe und erwarte – aber die ich nicht aufhören werde, sie (mir) zu stellen.

Sigg, Winterthur – this can be seen from the inscriptions on the 17 picture panels, which were stacked at the beginning of the 1980s in front of the door of the biology cabinet of a grammar school where I taught visual education and art education for several years. “What are you doing with them?” I asked a colleague who taught biology. “Oh – they’re going away!” (Something like that, I can’t remember the exact wording). “I see! I’m just going downstairs and could throw them in the skip straight away!” No sooner said than done, I packed this pile and another one with about 200 A4-sized, wonderful colour lithographs of animals and put them all in my car. When I was in a financial crisis at the end of the 1990s, I sold the 50 cm x 65 cm panels with the instructions on what to do in the event of a mountain accident to a clinic specialising in skiing accidents in the west of Austria; the panels with the animal illustrations are stored within sight. Great work, all of it.
But what I still don’t understand: how is it possible that in the year 2023, right now, at this very hour, people are shooting, bombing and tearing each other apart? It’s a question that I don’t have an answer to and don’t expect to – but one that I won’t stop asking (myself).
