Die „Wallinger Bros.“ Klaus & Konrad. Kulturarbeiter. Ebensee | AT · 2013–2017 (© PP · Ewiges Archiv) Die Brüder sind bzw. waren – Klaus Wallinger (links) ist am 29. Dezember 2020 verstorben – Hauptaktivisten des örtlichen Programmkinos Kino Ebensee und des Kulturvereines Ebensee, der eines der frühesten Indie-Festivals Österreich, das legendäre Holzstock Festival viele Jahre veranstaltet hat, bei dem immer wieder internationale Bands aufgetreten sind, bevor sie noch in größeren Städten wie Wien zu hören waren. Das Kino Ebensee ist jetzt nicht das Gartenbaukino in Wien, aber es war der Ort, an dem ich meine ersten Filme gesehen habe, noch vor der Ära der Wallingers, zB.: „Micky-Maus-Filme“, „Don Camillo und Peppone“, „Zorro“ und später dann „Django“-Filme (O-Ton: „Django hasst Ungerechtigkeit!“ „Hab’ keine Angst, Django ist ja bei Dir!“). Die „Aufklärungsfilme“ habe ich dann im Lehar-Kino Bad Ischl angeschaut.
Dass es das Kino Ebensee noch gibt, ich und andere dort noch Filme sehen können, Bands auftreten können uvm. – das verdanken wir insbesondere Klaus und Konrad. Für das „Festival der Regionen“, das im Jahr 2015 in Ebensee zum Thema „Arbeit“ stattgefunden hat, habe ich gemeinsam mit Hans Kienesberger das Video „SalineZentral – Arbeit in Ebensee“ gemacht und dafür auch ein Gespräch mit den beiden geführt und aufgezeichnet (s. link). Hier einige Auszüge daraus:
„Wir waren Abkömmlinge des Solvay-Managements – wie man das damals so genannt hat – (Anm.: Der Vater war leitender Angestellter des Solvay-Werks Ebensee, des örtlichen Ablegers der belgischen Solvay-Konzerns) . . . wir haben natürlich durch die Nähe zur ganzen Betriebsstruktur hautnah mitgekriegt, wie die Entwicklung, auch die internationale, das Werk in Ebensee beeinträchtigt, wie von Belgien aus der Standort Ebensee immer wieder in Frage gestellt worden ist und schlussendlich sieht man das Resultat, also die endgültige Liquidierung des Solvay-Betriebes in Ebensee steht wahrscheinlich in Bälde vor der Tür.“ (Anm.: der Betrieb wurde mittlerweile geschlossen). „Zum ersten möchte ich bemerken, dass Kultur Arbeit bedeutet! Wir stellen durchaus auch die Forderung, unsere Arbeit als Arbeit in dem Sinn zu begreifen, dass sie auch fair entlohnt werden muss, dass sie faire Arbeitsbedingungen muss und Zukunftsperspektiven bieten kann.“ Klaus W., SalineZentral, 27:02

„Ebensee ist ein gegründeter Arbeiterort, hat nicht die Geschichte, wie Gmunden oder Bad Ischl. Ebensee hat eine ganz eigens herausgeformte, spezifische Identität entwickelt, eben im Sinne von Arbeiterkultur und dadurch auch das scheinbare, unter Anführungszeichen gesagt „leicht verwahrloste“ Ortsbild vorzuweisen, was allerdings den Vorteil beinhaltet, dass man keine Rücksicht aus städtebaulichen oder wie immer gearteten Gründen auf das Erscheiningsbild in dem Sinn nehmen müsste, dass da nix verunstaltet oder sonst was werden darf, sondern wir könnten eigentlich aus dem Vollen schöpfen, wenn die Ressourcen da wären.“ Klaus W., SalineZentral, 27:43
„Das Festival der Regionen ist eben deswegen nach Ebensee gekommen oder wollte deswegen kommen, weil das Kino eben eine Ausstrahlung hat über dieEbenseeer Grenzen und das Salzkammergut hinaus und dadurch eine Andockstation für die Festivalmacher ist und wir 1993 beim ersten Festival der Regionen schon einmal mitgemacht haben. Der Klaus hat dann diesen Ball aufgenommen und das irgendwie ins Rollen gebracht.“ Konrad W., SalineZentral, 28:49
Konrad Wallinger ist ein außergewöhnlicher Maler – Werke im Tableau links bzw. rechts unten – und langjährig für Projektion und Betrieb im KINO EBENSEE zuständig (re. ob. beim Beamer im Vorführraum)
Es gab noch einen dritten Bruder – dessen Geschichte könnte nun nur mehr Konrad erzählen.

The Ebensee cinema is not the Gartenbaukino in Vienna now, but it was the place where I saw my first films, even before the Wallingers era, for example: “Mickey Mouse Films”, “Don Camillo and Peppone” , “Zorro” and later then “Django” films (interview: “Django hates injustice!” “Don’t be afraid, Django is with you!”). I then watched the “educational films” in the Lehar cinema in Bad Ischl. That the Ebensee cinema still exists, that I and others can still see films there, that bands can perform and much more. – We owe that in particular to Klaus and Konrad. For the “Festival of the Regions”, which took place in Ebensee in 2015 on the subject of “Work”, I made the video “SalineZentral – Work in Ebensee” together with Hans Kienesberger and also had and recorded a conversation with the two of them ( see link). Here are some excerpts from it: “We were descendants of the Solvay management – as it was called back then – (note: the father was a manager of the Solvay plant in Ebensee, the local branch of the Belgian Solvay group). . . Of course, due to the proximity to the entire company structure, we have seen first hand how the development, including the international one, affects the plant in Ebensee, how the Ebensee location has been questioned again and again from Belgium and ultimately you can see the result, i.e. the final one The liquidation of the Solvay company in Ebensee is probably just around the corner. ”(Note: the company has now been closed).
