Unterferlach / Spodnje Borovlje | AT · 1979–2022 (© PP · # 2596 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Als ich vor einigen Tagen wieder einmal in dem kleinen Ort in Kärnten in der Nähe des Faakersees war, in dem ich mit Barbara von 1979 bis 1982 0der 83 lebte, parkte ich das Auto auf dem kleinen Hügel, auf dem die Kirche steht. Ich kann mich nicht erinnern, ob ich damals je im Inneren war, jedenfalls blickten mein Sohn und ich auf den Ort, standen herum und sahen einen Mann im Haus bei der Kirche bei der Holzarbeit. Ich grüßte ihn und er fragte uns, ob wir die Kirche anschauen wollten und gab uns den Schlüssel. Drinnen schauten wir uns um und meinem Sohn fielen die slowenischen Texte unter den Kreuzwegbildern auf. Ich selbst spreche einigermaßen gut polnisch, darum konnte ich die meisten der Texte verstehen und ihm übersetzen. Der Ort liegt im zweisprachigen also deutsch-/slowenischen Gebiet. Die Aufstellung der zweisprachigen Ortstafeln in Kärnten und der „Ortstafelsturm“, bei dem die unter dem damaligen Bundeskanzler Bruno Kreisky aufgestellten zweisprachigen Ortstafel unter wütenden Protesten wieder umgerissen wurden, und das Verschwinden des Slowenischen sind Thema des Films VERSCHWINDEN / IZGINJANJE

Filialkirche der Pfarre Petschnitzen
Die Kirche von Unterferlach war ursprünglich eine Filialkirche der Pfarre Maria Gail. Seit 1751 war sie Filiale der Pfarre Latschach und wurde bei der Pfarregelung unter Kaiser Franz Josef II. der Kuratie Petschnitzen zugewiesen. Die gotische Dorfkirche wird 1659 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. In einem Meßbuch aus dem Jahre 1601 scheint der Name der Kirche als UNTERWROLACH auf. Östlich über dem Langhaus befindet sich ein Dachreiter mit Spitzhelm, an der Nordseite barocker Sakristeianbau. Neu gemauerte Vorhalle mit einer Gedenkstätte für die Opfer des 2. Weltkrieges; nördlich neuer Emporenaufgang. Am Langhaus, sowie im Chor findet man Spitzbogenfenster. Langhaus 3 jochig, Flachtonne mit Stichkappen, in der Barockzeit eingebaut. Gemauerte Westempore auf 2 Säulen, eingezogener Triumphbogen, Chor einjochig, Gewölbe mit Rippenstern. Der Schlußstein trägt eine Rose, das Wappen der Fürsten Rosenberg von Rosegg. Unterferlach gehörte zur Herrschaft (der Raser ) Rosegg.
Nördlich, zur Sakristei ein Segmentportal.
Kleiner Hochaltar:
In der Mitte des Hochaltars (18. Jhd.) steht die Schnitzfigur des hl.Gregor aus dem 16. Jhd., rechts und links je ein barocker Leuchtengel. Auf den Seitenaltären je ein barocker Leuchtengel. Über dem Triumphbogen ein barockes Kruzifix. An den Seitenwänden je ein Bild in originalem Barockrahmen:
links Maria mit Kind und rechts die büßende hl. Magdalena, beide aus dem 18.Jhd.
Wandmalereien:
Im Jahre 1966 wurden zahlreiche Wandmalereien aufgedeckt. Im Langhaus an der Triumphbogenwand nördlich hl. Maria Magdalena und Agnes, sowie eine weibl. Heilige; südlich eine Kreuzigung mit Maria und Johannes, bzw. im schmalen Streifen an der Schiffwand der hl. Leonhard. Durch den Einbau des barocken. Gewölbes sind beide Bildfelder fragmentiert; alle stilistisch um 1420 / 1425. Im Chor Reste einer kompletten Ausmalung an den oberen Teilen der Wände und im Gewölbe. In letzterem die 4 Evangelisten mit Spruchbändern. An den Wänden: im Norden eine Prozession vor Landschaft, im Mittelgrund Christus am Ölberg, rechts vorne ein Stifterpaar; an der Nordostwand Halbfigur.des hl. Petrus im Scheitel, neben dem Fenster der hl. Georg.und der hl. Florian; im Osten hl. Gregor flankiert von einem Heiligen und dem hl. Christophorus; an der Südostwand die hl. Paulus, Laurentius und Stephanus; im Süden Beweinung Christi im Scheitel, links vom Fenster hl. Martin; alle Hälfte 15. Jahrhundert.

Unterferlach / Spodnje Borovlje | AT 1979–2022 (© PP # 2596 www.ewigesarchiv.at) A few days ago, when I was in the small town in Carinthia near Lake Faakersee, where I lived with Barbara from 1979 to 1982 0der 83 , I parked the car on the small hill where the church stands. I don’t remember if I was ever inside at the time, however my son and I looked around the site and stood around and saw a man inside the house by the church doing woodwork. I greeted him and he asked us if we wanted to see the church and gave us the key. Inside we looked around and my son noticed the Slovenian texts under the Stations of the Cross images. I speak reasonably good Polish myself, so I was able to understand most of the texts and translate them for him. The place is in the bilingual German/Slovenian area. The erection of the bilingual place-name signs in Carinthia and the “place-name sign storm”, during which the bilingual place-name signs erected under the then Federal Chancellor Bruno Kreisky were torn down again amid angry protests, and the disappearance of the Slovene language are the subject of the film VERSCHWINDEN / IZGINJANJE

Branch church of the parish of Petschnitzen
The church in Unterferlach was originally a branch church of the parish of Maria Gail. Since 1751 it was a branch of the parish of Latschach and was assigned to the Petschnitzen curate under the parish regulations under Emperor Franz Josef II. The Gothic village church was first mentioned in 1659. In a missal from 1601 the name of the church appears as UNTERWROLACH. To the east above the nave is a ridge turret with a pointed helmet, on the north side there is a baroque sacristy extension. Newly bricked vestibule with a memorial for the victims of World War II; north new gallery entrance. There are pointed arch windows in the nave and in the chancel. Longhouse 3 bays, flat barrel with lunettes, built in the baroque period. Brick west gallery on 2 columns, recessed triumphal arch, single-bay choir, vault with rib star. The keystone bears a rose, the coat of arms of the princes of Rosenberg von Rosegg. Unterferlach belonged to the rule of (der Raser) Rosegg.

Small high altar:
In the middle of the high altar (18th century) is the carved figure of St. Gregory from the 16th century, on the right and left a baroque angel of light. On each of the side altars is a baroque angel of light. A baroque crucifix above the triumphal arch. A picture in the original baroque frame on each of the side walls:

Murals:
In 1966 numerous wall paintings were uncovered. In the nave on the wall of the triumphal arch north of St. Mary Magdalene and Agnes, and a female. saints; to the south a crucifixion with Mary and John, and in a narrow strip on the wall of the nave St. Leonhard. By incorporating the baroque. vault, both fields are fragmented; all stylistically around 1420/1425. In the chancel, remains of a complete painting on the upper parts of the walls and in the vault. In the latter the 4 evangelists with banners. On the walls: in the north a procession in front of a landscape, in the middle distance Christ on the Mount of Olives, in the foreground on the right a donor couple; on the north-east wall half-length figure of St. Peter on top of his head, next to the window of St. George and St. Florian; in the east St. Gregory flanked by a saint and St. Christopher; on the southeast wall St. Paul, Lawrence and Stephen; in the south the lamentation of Christ in the head, to the left of the window St. martin; all half 15th century.
