Das Grab von Kestutis Lapsys suchen und Pokémons zeichnen. Wien | AT · 2009–2014 (© PP · # 2615 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Anlässlich Allerseelen und bei schönstem Herbstwetter wollten wir im „Klosterwald“ am Kahlenberg die Bäume suchen, bei denen die Urnen meiner früheren Studionachbarin und Freundin Elisabeth Wetsch und des Freundes Kestutis Lapsys vergraben sind. Manche Bäume dort haben kleine Täfelchen angeschraubt mit den Namen, den Baum mit dem Namen von Elisabeth fanden wir nach einigem Suchen, den von Kestutis zunächst nicht – obwohl wir bei der Verabschiedung dabei waren und online war ich nicht imstande, den Platz zu lokalisieren. Dann umarmte ich eben den nächstbesten Baum und wir riefen Kestutis in den Wald einige Worte zu. Elisabeth Wetsch war meine Studionachbarin für lange Jahre und eine der ungekrönten heimischen youtube-Queens mit ihrer website nadelspiel.com und rund 1.000 (eintausend!!) Erklärvideos zu den Themen Stricken, Häkeln und Leben mit gesamt mehr als 110 Millionen Aufrufen! Kestutis Lapsys war ein Kunsterzieher in bestem Sinne, beliebter Professor, Künstler, ein großartiger Zeichner – mit Bleistift und Smartphone gleichermaßen, ein schwarzer Prinz, wunderbarer Erzähler und lieber Freund († 16. März 2021). Er war unter anderem Sammler von Pokémon Memorabilia und ohne Zweifel Pokémon-Meister, der als Geburtstags-Geschenk für meinen Sohn vor Jahren OHNE Vorlage den Pokémon-Character „Pantimos“ auf eine polnische Landkarte zeichnete (Fotos rechte Seite und Video (link s.u.)

Wann sind die „Pocket-Monster“ im Leben meines Sohnes und damit in meinem aufgetaucht? – Er wird etwa 8 oder 9 Jahre alt gewesen sein. Einige Jahre lang waren sie allgegenwärtig bei ihm und bei mir. Ich kann behaupten, dass ich sämtliche ernstzunehmende Comic-Shops in Wien kannte (wo ua. auch Pokémon Card-decks verkauft wurden), viele Male sind wir beide zu den Comic-Messen in der Nähe des Gasometers gepilgert (und auch zu denen in der Längenfeldgasse), Pokémons in vielfältiger Ausprägung waren mir namentlich geläufig. Meine erste „erfolgreiche“ ebay-Ersteigerung war ein (historisch besonders wertvolles!) Gameboy-Spiel.

Irgendwann hatte ich die Idee, einen Gameboy in Wachs zu gießen: Der Gameboy wurde also mit dünner Folie geschützt, mit einer dicken Schicht Ton ummantelt, diese der Länge nach aufgeschnitten, der Gameboy entfernt, wieder zusammengesetzt, die Hohlform dann mit flüssigem Wachs ausgegossen. Der Wachs-Gameboy liegt in Sichtweise in einer Glasvitrine + lässt immer noch mein Herz höher schlagen.

Vienna | AT · 2009–2014 (© PP · # 2615 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) On the occasion of All Souls’ Day and with the most beautiful autumn weather, we wanted to look for the trees in the “Klosterwald” on the Kahlenberg where the urns of my former studio neighbor and friend Elisabeth Wetsch and her friend Kestutis Lapsys are buried. Some of the trees there have small plaques screwed on with the names, we found the tree with the name of Elisabeth after some searching, but not the one of Kestutis at first – although we were there at the farewell and I wasn’t able to locate the place online. Then I just hugged the nearest tree and we called out a few words to Kestutis in the forest. Elisabeth Wetsch was my studio neighbor for many years and one of the uncrowned local youtube queens with her website Nadelspiel.com and around 1,000 (one thousand!!) explanatory videos on the topics of knitting, crocheting and life with a total of more than 110 million views! Kestutis Lapsys was an art teacher in the best sense, a popular professor, artist, a great draftsman – with pencil and smartphone alike, a black prince, wonderful storyteller and dear friend († March 16, 2021). Among other things, he was a collector of Pokémon memorabilia and without a doubt a Pokémon master, who drew the Pokémon character “Pantimos” on a map of Poland WITHOUT a template as a birthday present for my son years ago (photos on the right side and video (see link below))
When did the “pocket monsters” appear in my son’s life and thus in mine? – He must have been about 8 or 9 years old. For a few years they were omnipresent in him and in me. I can say that I knew all serious comic shops in Vienna (where Pokemon card decks were sold, among other things), many times we both made pilgrimages to the comic fairs near the Gasometer (and also to the ones in the Längenfeldgasse), Pokémons in various forms were familiar to me by name. My first “successful” ebay auction was a (historically particularly valuable!) Gameboy game.
At some point I had the idea of casting a Gameboy in wax: The Gameboy was protected with thin foil, covered with a thick layer of clay, cut open lengthwise, the Gameboy removed, reassembled, and the hollow mold then filled with liquid wax. The wax Gameboy is in sight in a glass case + still makes my heart beat faster.
In 2009, over the course of a few weeks, I “portrayed” around 50 tiny, roughly 2 cm tall Pokémon figures – magnified many times over. On the left a Pokemon named “Scherox”
