Ein Amateur-Photograph versucht sich als „Wedding-Photographer“. Immer wieder ertappe ich mich dabei, wie ich konzentriert Gespräche und Telefonate in meiner Nähe „abhöre“. Vor einigen Jahren wollte ich in der Fremdenverkehrs-Zentrale Bad Ischl meine E-mails „checken“. Am Computer nebenan hatte eine Fotografin ebenfalls ihre Mail-Korrespondenz geöffnet und telefonierte mit einer Kundin, der sie ein Angebot über Fotografie auf deren Hochzeit gemacht hatte. Entweder ich sah die Kalkulation auf ihrem Monitor in einem Moment, wo sie nicht hinschaute (ja – ich bin unmöglich, aber das ist meine verdammte Pflicht als Ewiger Archivar) oder ich hörte den Betrag im Laufe des Gesprächs. Die veranschlagten Kosten waren rund 3.000 €. Gut, da beginnt die Aufnahmeserie zu den schönsten Momenten im Leben zweier Menschen wahrscheinlich beim Aufpolieren der Ringe in der Früh, beim aufgeregten Zähneputzen etc – aber es geht offensichtlich um keine geringen Beträge. Auf einer der US-Websites für professionelle Fotografie, die ich ab + zu konsultiere, werden immer wieder Themen der „Wedding-Photography“ diskutiert, oft geht’s um juristische Auseinandersetzungen, wenn Paare nicht zahlen wollen oder auch um die Frage: ist das Cover-Foto eines Fotoalbums der Hochzeit extra zu bezahlen oder inbegriffen?

Gibt’s eigentlich auch Scheidungs-Fotograf*innen? Was sind da die Preise?

Diese Aufnahme jedenfalls hat Johann Promberger anlässlich der Hochzeit seiner Schwester Pauline vor dem Eingang des Geburtshauses gemacht. Im Eingang sind ein Paar Holzschuhe zu sehen. Eine der Töchter des Brautpaares heiratete einen der Soldaten der US-Army, die im Mai 1945 das KZ-Ebensee befreit hatten und wanderte wie meine Mutter und deren Mann aus „nach Amerika“.

Again and again I find myself “listening to” conversations and phone calls in my area in a concentrated manner. A few years ago I wanted to “check” my e-mails at the Bad Ischl tourist office. A photographer had also opened her email correspondence on the computer next door and was on the phone with a customer to whom she had made an offer for photography at their wedding. Either I saw the calculation on her monitor at a moment when she wasn’t looking (yes – I’m impossible, but that’s my bloody duty as a perpetual archivist) or I heard the amount in the course of the conversation. The estimated cost was around € 3,000. Well, that’s where the series of shots of the most beautiful moments in the lives of two people probably begins with polishing up the rings in the morning, while excitedly brushing their teeth, etc. – but obviously it’s not about small amounts. On one of the US websites for professional photography, which I consult from +, topics of “wedding photography” are discussed again and again, often about legal disputes when couples do not want to pay or the question: is the cover Photo of a photo album of the wedding to pay extra or included?
Are there actually also divorce photographers? What are the prices there?
In any case, Johann Promberger took this picture on the occasion of the wedding of his sister Pauline in front of the entrance to the birth house. A pair of wooden shoes can be seen in the entrance. One of the daughters of the bride and groom married one of the soldiers of the US Army who liberated the Ebensee concentration camp in May 1945 and, like my mother and her husband, emigrated from “to America”.
