Die DIY-Tattoo-Maschine aus dem Vibrator, der Onkel bei der Waffen-SS, die Tätowierung der Häftlinge im KZ Ausschwitz und was mir sonst noch alles beim Zusammenstellen eines Tattoo-Tableaus einfällt. Amsterdam | NL; Bad Ischl, Wien | AT; Montreal | CA · 2008 – 2019 (© PP · © pix re. unt.: Robert Del Tredici · # 2288 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Mein All-time-tattoo-Favorit ist und bleibt das Foto links oben: aufgenommen in der Therme Oberlaa im Jahr 2009 – damals hatte ich noch die Frechheit/Voraussicht, eine gar nicht so kleine Digitalcamera in den Badebereich mitzunehmen! Ich traute meinen Augen nicht, als ich einen Vater mit seinem Kind am Arm zum Kinderbecken kommen sah, der auf dem Rücken ein farblich adaptiertes Keith-Haring-Tattoo hatte – die idente Zeichnung, die auch zur gleichen Zeit in der Werbung eines Mobilkom-Konzerns verwendet wurde! Ich konnte diese Koinzidenz kaum glauben und machte gezählte sieben Aufnahmen – kostbare Dokumente! Im Nachhinein bin ich froh, mir keine Watsche eingefangen zu haben. Zu Tattoos gibts eine Reihe von Tableaux im Ewigen Archiv, aber erst bei diesem ist mir ein Onkel eingefallen, an den ich mich erinnern kann, wie ich noch ein kleines Kind war. Er hatte ganz faltige Hände und machte für mich ab und zu aus dem Papier, mit dem die Orangen eingewickelt waren, eine Art Spinne, indem er die Ecken etwas zusammendrehte, das Papier dann wieder auf die Orange setzte und sie durchs Zimmer rollen ließ. Viel später erfuhr ich, dass er bei der Waffen-SS gewesen sei. Hatte er nicht einmal den Ärmel aufgekrempelt und eine Tätowierung gezeigt? Ich weiß es heute nicht mehr. Würde ich ihn heute fragen, wenn er noch leben würde? Ein Video-Interview mit ihm machen? (Text dazu und zur Tätowierung der Häftlinge im NS-Terror-Regime weiter unten).

Das Foto oben Mitte zeigt eine detailliert ausgeführte, überdimensionale Tattoo-Maschine oberhalb des Firmenschildes von „Tattoo For You by Alfred“ in der Herbststraße im 16. Bezirk – für mich ein schönes Beispiel von Skulptur im öffentlichen Raum. Rechts daneben ein Sticker des Studios „Tattoos to the Max · Bad Ischl · Austria“ vorschriftsmäßig ausgeführt mit Skull & Bones, Edelweiß und Frakturschrift.

Darunter zwei DIY-Sonderanfertigungen: Links eine Tattoo-Maschine angetrieben von einer elektrischen Zahnbürste, rechts ein eher rustikales Modell aus einem Vibrator. Beide funktionieren und wurden verwendet. (Amsterdam, 2019. Der Entwickler will sicher nicht genannt werden)

The DIY tattoo machine from the vibrator, the uncle in the Waffen-SS, the tattoos of the prisoners in the Auschwitz concentration camp and everything else that comes to my mind when I am assembling a tattoo tableau. Amsterdam | NL; Bad Ischl, Vienna | AT; Montreal | CA · 2008 – 2019 (© PP · © pix right below: Robert Del Tredici · # 2288 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) My all-time tattoo favorite is and remains the photo above on the left: taken in the Oberlaa thermal baths in 2009 – at that time I still had the cheek / foresight to take a not-so-small digital camera with me to the bathing area! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a father walking to the children’s pool with his child on his arm, who had a color-adapted Keith Haring tattoo on his back – the same drawing that was also used in an advertisement for a Mobilkom group at the same time was used! I could hardly believe this coincidence and took seven counted pictures – precious documents! In retrospect, I’m glad I didn’t catch a slap. There are a number of tableaux for tattoos in the Eternal Archive, but it was only with this one that I came up with an uncle who I can remember from when I was a small child. He had wrinkled hands and every now and then made the paper with which the oranges were wrapped into a kind of spider for me by twisting the corners together a little, then putting the paper back on the orange and letting it roll across the room. Much later I found out that he had been with the Waffen SS. Hadn’t he even rolled up his sleeve and shown a tattoo? I don’t know anymore today. Would I ask him today if he was still alive? The photo above in the middle shows a detailed, oversized tattoo machine above the company sign for “Tattoo For You by Alfred” in Herbststrasse in the 16th district – for me a beautiful example of sculpture in public space. To the right of this is a sticker from the studio “Tattoos to the Max · Bad Ischl · Austria”, executed according to regulations with skull & bones, edelweiss and Gothic script.

Including two custom-made DIY products: on the left a tattoo machine powered by an electric toothbrush, on the right a rather rustic model made from a vibrator. Both work and have been used. (Amsterdam, 2019. The developer certainly doesn’t want to be named)
