Data de groove. Kleines Extempore zur Datensammlung über mich (und uns alle) von Facebook, google & Co: WATCH IT!
Seit Mitte der 1990-er Jahre schreibe und empfange ich e-mails, habe eine (völlig vernachlässigte) Website, treibe mich vielfältig im Netz herum, „poste“ seit vielen Jahren fast täglich auf FB. „Smartphone“ habe ich keines, sondern benütze ein aufklappbares „Handy“ mit Zahlenfeld, das meiner Mutter etwas zu beschwerlich war – also im Vergleich zu iPhone, Samsung etc: „altes Zeug“. Seit vielen Jahren halte ich mich für jemanden, der Medien, Überwachung und Datensammlung (sehr) kritisch gegenübersteht und versuche, mein Medienverhalten zu reflektieren.

Ein Guardian Artikel zum Thema Datensammlung: „Are you ready? Here's all the data Facebook and Google have on you“ (s.u.) hat mich vor kurzem dazu gebracht, probeweise einem der links zu folgen zu einem der (ewigen!) Archive, die Facebook und Google über mich angelegt haben. Meine „youTube history“
Ich habe aus dem ziemlich langen Guardian Artikel einige links herauskopiert – jede(r) könnte seine/ihre „Personalakten“ zumindest ansatzweise anschauen (abgesehen wohl von den Daten, die gesammelt und nicht „freigegeben“ werden – eh klar.)

Ich unterscheide zwischen 2 Daten-Gebirgen, die über mich (und über uns alle) angelegt werden:
01_Völlig automatisiertes Datenmining durch Konzerne und Staaten, die allein durch die alltägliche Benützung der Medien in gigantischem Ausmaß angesammelt werden. Hier gilt nur: WATCH it. Zumindest die wenigen „option out“ Möglichkeiten nützen, die angeboten werden. Stichwort: Privacy settings
Hier gibt es kein Entkommen. Außer: Smartphones entsorgen, Stecker aus den Computern ziehen, Tablets etc. wegwerfen.
02_Mein „freiwilliger“ Beitrag zur Entblößung. Hier kann ich gewisse Dinge vermeiden.
Obwohl ich viel „poste“, habe ich mir gewisse Askese auferlegt. Ich veröffentliche nichts, bei dem ich mir denke, dass gewisse politische Parteien, Richtungen etc. Informationen bekommen könnten. Ich bin der Meinung, dass FB & Co nicht der Platz für persönliche politische Offenbarungen ist.
Ich weiß: FB & Co. kann ich sicher nicht ändern – auch nicht durch pseudo-provokative Aktionen – wie zB. Fotos der Venus von Willendorf zum Trotz posten. Schade um den Strom. Ab und zu bin ich dann doch erstaunt, wie offenherzig manche meiner FB-„Freund*innen“ mit ihren Meinungen, Haltungen, Aktionen im Netz umgehen.
FB ist natürlich nicht gratis – ich (und wir alle) zahlen mit unseren Datengeschenken in enormer Zahl. Hier gilt nur: WATCH IT!

Since the mid-1990s, I write and receive e-mails, have a (completely neglected) website, drive me around in various ways on the net, “posting” for many years almost daily on FB. “Smartphone” I have none, but use a hinged “cell phone” with number field, which was a bit too cumbersome for my mother – so compared to iPhone, Samsung etc: “old stuff”. For many years, I consider myself someone who is (very) critical of the media, surveillance and data collection and tries to reflect on my media behavior.

I copied out some of the long Guardian articles on the left – anyone could at least begin to look at his / her “personal files” (apart from the data that is collected and not “released” – obviously).

I distinguish between 2 data mountains that are created above me (and above us all):
01_ Fully automated data mining by corporations and states, which are accumulated on a gigantic scale solely through the everyday use of the media. Here only applies: WATCH it. At least use the few “option out” options that are offered. Keyword: Privacy settings
There is no escape here. Except: dispose of smartphones, unplug the computer, throw away tablets, etc.
02_My “voluntary” contribution to the exposure. Here I can avoid certain things.
Although I post a lot, I have imposed some asceticism on me. I do not publish anything in which I think that certain political parties, directions etc. could get information. I think FB & Co is not the place for personal political revelations.
I know: FB & Co. I certainly can not change – not even by pseudo-provocative actions – such as. Posting photos of the Venus of Willendorf in defiance. Pity about the stream. From time to time I’m surprised how frankly some of my FB “friends” deal with their opinions, attitudes, actions in the network.
Of course, FB is not free – I (and all of us) pay in huge numbers with our data gifts. Here only applies: WATCH IT!
