Zum Grab von Jim Morrison pilgern und: wer kontrolliert jetzt die Medien? Paris | FR; Wien | AT · 1990–2020 (SW-Fotos © Andrea Putz; Farb-Fotos © PP · # 2476 · www.ewigesarchiv.at) Das Grab von Jim Morrison, des legendären Frontmannes und Leadsänger der Rockband „The Doors“ am Pariser Ostfriedhof Père Lachaise ist eine Pilgerstätte für Rockfans – insbesondere um den Todestag, den 3. Juli 1971 herum. Ich selbst lebte und arbeitete 1990 ein halbes Jahr in einem Atelier in der Cité des arts internationale in Paris und bin am rechten großen Foto, mit Brille und gestreifter Hose, die Arme verschränkt, versonnen blickend zu sehen! Mitgenommen zum alljährlichen Trauer-/Huldigungs-/was-weiß-ich-Event hatte mich eine US-amerikanische Fotografin (links von mir, mit Foto-Tasche), die seit vielen Jahren immer um den Todestag von Morrison nach Paris kam, um das Treiben am Friedhof zu dokumentieren. Der „Mythos“ des Rocksängers strahlt aber offensichtlich international und Jahrzehnte nach seinem Tod weiter: Den Sticker (re. unten) mit seinem Gesicht und dem Statement „WHOEVER CONTROLS THE MEDIA CONTROLS THE MIND“ habe ich 2020 in Wien gesehen und fotografiert, also 30 Jahre nach meinem Besuch am Grab in Paris.

„Angaben der Friedhofsverwaltung aus dem Jahr 2004 zufolge handelt es sich bei dem Grab des Rocksängers um eine der populärsten Pariser Touristenattraktionen und um das meistbesuchte der 70.000 Gräber des Père Lachaise, auf dem zahlreiche bekannte Persönlichkeiten ruhen. Die Pariser Stadtverwaltung schätzte die Anzahl der Besucher des Grabs im Jahr 2001 auf etwa 1,5 Millionen.

I myself lived and worked in a studio in the Cité des arts Internationale in Paris for half a year in 1990 and can be seen in the large photo on the right, with glasses and striped trousers, my arms crossed and a dreamy look! I was taken to the annual mourning/homage/what-I-know event by an American photographer (to my left, with a photo bag) who had been coming to Paris for many years on the anniversary of Morrison’s death, to capture the To document goings-on at the cemetery. The “myth” of the rock singer obviously continues to shine internationally and decades after his death: I saw and photographed the sticker (bottom right) with his face and the statement “WHOEVER CONTROLS THE MEDIA CONTROLS THE MIND” in Vienna in 2020, i.e. 30 Years after my visit to the tomb in Paris.

Paris City Council estimated the number of visitors to the tomb in 2001 at around 1.5 million.
